Its the only monoply that the government doesnt enforce. If I wanted to switch who my energy provider is I cant cause PG&E is the onyl company that services the area i live in. And I live in the San Francisco area so its not like its a rural unpopulated place

dont forget gas, water, and i am sure there are other things. god i hate america

wow interesting thread. considering i'm hoping to buy my own home one day.

as for now i rent. which includes maintainace fees.

but i just want to say that almost everything pluged into the out let will take energy. EVEN IF IT IS OFF.

ie. cell phone charger, stero, vcr, tv, stove, microwave, heater ect.

most people think that just cause its off or it isn't pugged in to recharge it is not using energy. thats wrong. if it has a LED light that is on or a memory to save. it uses energy.
also how often does your frig turn on to cool?
do you fall asleep with your tv on? try using the sleep timer.
do you have lawn lights?

things that are often over looked are probly why some of your bills are higher than you'd suspect.

Man Im getting screwed i just got the tanks in my sig and im averaging $300. Where do you live?

Wow, some of you guys are paying a lot of money.

That PFK site calculates my usage at 12 GBP (~25 USD) per month for my 240 litre (~65 US gallon) arowana tank.

The total bill averages only 21 GBP (~42 USD) per month.

So not very much at all, though I dont need AC and my heating is gas.

Even better my wife pays the electricity bill.
