Aquariums and your electricity bill??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm only running a 55 gallon tank. We set the thermostat fairly high throughout the day while we are gone (82) and a bit lower when home (77). My bill was $42 last month. We just moved into this house and were trying to figure out what our power bills will be. Perhaps my wife and I are stingy, but I've never seen a power bill for more than $80. Perhaps it has to do with cheap energy costs out here in the PacNW.

12, 20, 40, 60, 75, 125 in socal is costing about $80-100 every 2 months for me. (luckily dad hasnt decided to make me pay it yet!)

my electric bill for my big 2 bedroom condo is $75 to $89. depends how much i use the ac. now we have two computers running 24/7. our plasma tv in the living rm is on alot. then the lcd tv in the bedroom is on at night for a few hrs. we also run a fan at night all night. from about 10pm to 7am. my 120 gallon tank is running two cnasiter filters the light and a sponge filter. when i lived in my duplex my bill was $80 a month and i had a 125 gallon then.

Keeper I feel your pain, we're running 4 tanks and our bill was $95 for a little two bedroom with no AC, neither of us are ever around... When I got the bill last month I even called the electric company and complained, I thought maybe the meter was broken. Apparently, "the meters can't break". Guess I'll just watch less tv and not crank my stereo anymore...

Oh yeah, my parents have a 4 bedroom house that they run the AC at and they have a washer and drier and their bill was $95 last month too. I can't figure out how we manage to use as much power as them.
