Okay...
First off a conservative estimate of an average pima growth rate is about 2" a month which means the this fish will probably grow a foot in 6 months. This is ontop of the purchase size which will be about 6-8". This means you will most likely have an 18 inch fish and after the first year a 30" fish thats saying it will still be alive... I seriously doubt that the 240 you are getting will be enough. Plus the fact that you have an rtc...

Point proven. I just wanted to experience one for a while. Truth be told most people that have silver aros dont have anything much bigger then a 225 i figured it would sufice for a while. As silvers get to be 3ft+

As far as tge RTC i feel that a 225 will suffice for along time and with the devotion and decent equipment its a pretty good life. How many baby fry off all species are eaten in tge first day. Most ot them. Any fish properly cared for from a fry for a cpl years is alot better then what most likely would have happend.

no offence mate, please don't take this the wrong way but this is a stupid idea...

the RTC should reach 3'. im going to soon build a huge tank with the measurements L-10' H- 4' W-8' thats sufficient for a RTC. the araipaima should reach 10' in wild, this in its self should discourage you from the purchase. only if you have the accommodation ready should you get it.
225g is way to small for either fish.
your logic about the RTC is flawed as it's still not getting the correct space it needs to live a proper, non-stunted life.
sorry for the downer mate but it is what it is.
