Are pure Rays a thing of the past?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes and in the U.S. at least I don't think there are really any stingray farms? Sure some bigger breeders but nothing I would give a farm status to. Now I don't know about Asia and ray farming so that may be a different story.

I actually know several that are farm status. They only breed bd and discus. They sell mainly to China but I could order from them if I want. They have a huge farm.

Like t1 was saying it is a pipe dream.

Hmmm I wonder if there are any ray farms that have their focus on producing one off hybrids? If there is anyone who owns/works on a ray farm I would like to hear what their views are on business, market and demand for pure rays or hybrids?

we need to start following killiefish hobbists plan of action. they simply burn down anyone's house if you are breeding hybrids.
by seriously, for regular people, just keep all females in one tank. here problem solved.
if you want to breed them, than keep makes in another and breed in 3d tank.

I would say there are plenty of farms in Asia the are trying to breed a certain look with hybrids and selective breeding

well, these non-purist are ruining a large number of captive species. just look at common angelfish and live breeders. you cant even tell
which species they are because they are hybrids upon hybrids upon hybrids

Sounds like a horrible idea.

only 5 years hybrids were rare and people were a lot more critical of them. the thing to remember, high quality hybrids are rare and are very expensive.
so the market will be flooded with cheap low grade ones. most of the these low grades will be sold as motoro. and here is you problem.

same deal with flowerhorns. sure they look great and are easy to breed. but to get a good looking one you will have to pay over a lot of money.
so fish stores are full of junk flowerhorns sold as generic chichlids
