Are Silver Arowanas legal in Australia?

Silverdragon - All the local LFS in my area sells Asians, doesn't mean its legal though. Have you asked your LFS stores if they knew asians were illegal to sell for a laugh? I have! =) They get all touchy and say they are not selling, "just looking after for a friend" or they will say, "when people dont want them, and they just dump their fish here".

I think its a grey area of the law. Statute (legisation) says one thing, but if you look at common (case) law, then it would challenge the grey area further. Problem is, I dont think any applicants have challenged this argument in courts in Australia yet so there is no precedent to look upon.

But if you can prove me wrong, I will buy an Asian! If and when I can afford one...=)

i heard that next year laws on what fish you can keep are gonne be tougher and silvers might be on the noxious....im not sure if it does happen...but even if it does i aint gettin rid of any of my red,rtg,green or silver

exactly right, to be honest illegal or not.. no ones really actively policing it... so i reckon we should just end the discussion here before we bring more attention to it lol *keep it on the down low bro* lol.. sooo i can buy my asian aro aswell when i can afford it too lol..

honestly, no matter what fish you have..customs or aqis dont have a clue...you can own snakeheads and aqis wouldnt have a clue about it. I have not heard of anyone who has been caught with noxious fish.

all depends on what seller...theres a few around i recently got one at around 20cm for 6k its a nice super red

$6K? Reds are not cheap. My lfs selling a 35cm chilli red for 10K. Gold one for 4K.
