I agree with the definition of hoarder as someone who has more fish than they can care for properly. I've been in the hobby for 44 years (continuously). I reached the maximum I could maintain several years ago at 60 aquariums/ponds, 2 in-ground outdoor ponds and 10 above-ground outdoor pools. I closed down about 15 aquariums for awhile, but I missed them. So now I hold steady at 55-60 aquariums plus all the outdoor stuff. I would like to have more, but I'm realistic in that I know I don't have time for more. I have 5,300 gallons in my house and 16,000 gallons outside.

Holy cow... now that's serious... I have only around 5000 gallons total and it takes A LOT of my free time up as is to care for them all - I couldn't imagine 21,000 gallons to care for -My hats off to you and your dedication to your fish -:headbang2

Damn I just can't imagine up keeping all that stock and tanks how do you guys manage ?

+1

I'm just curious... How long does it take everyone with more than 5 tanks or so to do the regular maintenance?

Right now I have 4 tanks setup and I do weekly water changes. It takes me anywhere between 1-2 hours (sometimes 3 hours depending on how thorough or exhaustive I want to be.) to get everything all squared away.

I am looking into getting another tank 75+ gal in the next couple years... I already have a 55 gallon, a 10 gallon and a 1.5 gallon (for my betta)... Eventually in the far future I intend to buy or rent a house with a spare bedroom and fill it with fish and probably tarantulas and also make the floor space the dog room.

Also yeah, a hoarder is someone with more pets than they can care for... I've been called a hoarder before but I'm absolutely not and have much less pets than many people I've known on forums.
