Argentea Temperament?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yea def get him smaller than the others, iv used this method adding to my tank and as long as the small guy doesnt get to stressed (like my argentea) seams to work good, the big guys usually dont really bother with the new smaller fish (with som exeptions) and as the small guys grow they are already acclimated to comm life.

Chris Im kinda surprised you want a female, personally I strive for all males specifically in the comm tank unless Im trying to breed. They are better lookers, and without the gender mix- aggression in the males doesnt get that esculated. Although I do Have 3 ladies in my tank now, 2 of wich will be rehomed and the 3rd going to be a breeder.

Clockwork- Id take your bb for my comm in a heartbeat, probably one of the the most attractive male bb iv ever seen...by the way there is a remake of that movie comin out, unless it did already and I missed it.

mine seem to be ok with other fish that they share the tank with however, the male constantly picks on the female but nothing serious.....

i bought two of them last week. no aggression what so ever and they never leave each others side.but they are only 4"

Mine relentlessly tries to attack and pester other fish even though he loses. He's almost got himself killed a few times so he's in a 55 gallon by himself now.

This sums mine up almost exactly. Very aggressive.... gets his arse kicked non-stop by other fish in the tank. Tries to target the smaller fish, but my Salvini and Synspilum destroy the Argentea when he gets aggressive. My Salvini is the smallest fish in the tank and is the co-boss with the much larger (largest fish) Synspilum. If all Argentea are like mine, a large one would be an absolute terror. Mine also seems to grow much slower than the other Viejas

they are pretty tough fish. Grow pretty fast. Temperment I heard they real aggressive, but I raised 3x mines to 5" then sold them. they werent that mean really. I can compare it to a Jack dempsey temperment. But you should know cichlids get nasty when they know they have a weak fish to pick on.
