If people are paying whats the problem?

There were points when I could get $35 Zebra Pleco's, $150 Leo's, $40 Blue Eyes, $50 NGT, $5 Indos, $50 gulpers, etc. ALl have skyrocketed at different points..

Supply and demand...Opportunities come and go, 'fad fish' come and go, but if the buyer is willing to pay the asking price whats the problem? BD for 10k? Plat Mundi for 20k+ Who cares, to each his own.

Every time you post i think less of you.. Dude was saying it would have been nice to see them at 50. With the economy ect.. There will be alot of people that hoped to own them.. That will not get the chance. What does the prices of fish in the EARLY 90's have to do with today? You think you'll ever see Blue Eye Pleco for $40? I just payed $1400.00. It would have been nice to see the people having all the problem's, Be able to purchase a nice/rare fish at a price hoped for. Just because you or I have them money to pay (MARKET VALUE) Does not mean everybody can. I will be shocked if they can sell them in the US for 250 plus.. I have my six coming, But i think ALOT of people will miss out.. I was hoping they would come in at 50-75 buck's.. The only hope of selling alot of them at these prices, Is maybe a vendor or something like that buy's a shat load of them. jmo

Also your Black Diamond and Plat Mundi prices are WAY off. Atleast form the sellers i know of.

2 seperate LFS here told me that armatus have been banned for export (not import) at the source, that the ones that are coming in are smuggled. true or not? If not this is a great sale's pitch.

Some importers have been saying "they're banned" for like 2-3 years. But I dont think they're correct. It might be a "I can't get it at a great price so I don't want to sell it" or "I can't get them at all.." tactic to settle requests.

Like everything they will come down in price. Eventually. The more there are, the less demand. The less demand, the more the price drops.

200+ armatus aren't going to sell out in one day. Especially if they're in one persons home. I would highly doubt the market will support moving large quanitys of $200.00 armatus right now. I mean think how hard it's been to move some stuff lately. There aren't alot of other sites besides this one to sell on. There will probably be left overs at the end and prices will drop to move the last few out. ;)

I'm in the thinking that someone picked them all up before they got advertised and is trying to sell them for what other less popular vendors like to sell them for to turn a profit for a fish that they put a down payment on but couldn't afford. Hence screwing the market over. For there own gain.

you got that right Johnny.

I find it unfair to judge someone by their few comments on a forum, however you and I don’t know each other and that’s all we have to judge by so its understood…to each his own, it is what it is. You’re right and point is taken, and of course I would love to see them under $100 myself…Many of us could have quite the Armatus shoal..lol.

Perhaps my interpretation of the original post was misconstrued. I will say that with the exception of maybe the two Pleco sp. These are all prices seen fairly recently. I’ve worked at wholesalers, and am still in contact with a few (like a lot of other members) and do see these (Mundis and BD) sell at the prices quoted. Market Price, not wholesale.

Granted, In the last few months both have come down in price with greater availability.

My point was and still is, that I feel the price for the Armatus is still reasonable, Especially at what they were going for not that long ago. Would I like to see them in the $50 range ? of course…especially considering how things are economically.

from what i remenber when the armatus were $50 , the vendor had stated that he was not sure if they were armatus or not and that it would be a gamble that a lot of people did not mind taking since they ended up being armatus! i think if he knew they were, the price would of been little bit higher. dont matter if the price is $50 or $250 by the end your still getting an awesome fish that some people dream of having.

I for one am allready sick of the drama. I love these fish but am allready getting the same sour feeling towards them as I have recently aquired for Marbled Motoros. Great fish to have.... HOWEVER the hoops that one must jump through, the negotiating, and some of the idiots I have been forced to deal with just makes the whole experience sour.

All comes down to being in it for the hoibby or for the $. Everyone understands that even if you are in it for the hobby that you have to eat.... But the people in it for the hobby also know where the line is between what is enough for them and when enough is enough.

I see people making so much profit on these fish that it makes it hard to justify buying one......

Am i complaining? Nope. Never been a "baller" and never will be. So just like rays, I will settle for what I can afford.....

I'd LOVE to know exactly how many of the hundreds imported last summer are still alive today...... Same thing will happen again. People don't understand the size requirement and buy them despite being able to house them as adults, then they die, are sold to improper homes (and die) or die in shipping....

Well said as far as the fish's well being goes.

Kinda funny how they are "everywhere" yet I can't sem to find one for sale.

Can't get RW to return an email.

Apparently there are none of the $250 ones left.

I guess this is where I hope that the best things really come to those who wait.
