i think your personal definition of greed is severly flawed. About the electronics and cheapest rooms and stuff. Unless you are missing your mortgage payment to buy a new stereo or game system. Then that would be greed. But buying things you want with hard earned money isn't greed to me.

To me greed in business is when you have something for sale and realize that there is a high demand for that product, so the price goes way up.

And it doesn't have to be the same person to do it. Like in this situation.

But greed is a funny thing that has a way of teaching its own lessons.

I have no drama about the dead armatus at all. And you will not find me in any sellers subforums creating it. I am in here for discussion and thats what i am doing.

I only wish that the people that brought these in would have thought it over a little better. So we could have more armatus on mfk.

these are threads that were posted several months ago. all these armatus came from me. and they are schooling together successfully. and yes these are the cheap $50 armatus that were so-called fake.

not everyone can have a school of armatus due to the price they go for. but when it came down to $50 members and hobbyist had the chance to do it and it was a success.

I myself was able to school 10 leichardti arowanas with zero aggression proven on my youtube video. myths and belief can be broken. myths of making your fish sick after changing water of more than 90% is false for me. some of these members saw me change water 90% with fluctuation of 10 degrees with complete success. it depends on what kind of fish and how you take care of them. maybe you want to re-think that these fish cannot be schooled together.

maybe i am severely flawed on my definition of greed.

here is the defintion:
a selfish and excessive desire for more of something (as money) than is needed
source: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/greed

"But buying things you want with hard earned money isn't greed to me. " - let me ask you this. if you are getting paid at minumum wage, and that is hard earned money and you buy things for yourself but in comes to a point you want more. that means you need to earn more. then you earn 20% more on your minumum wage. and you are starting a family and your buying electronics for your apartment. you need to earn more again.. another 20% on top of the minimum wage? why not life modestly and stop buying and stop wanting. and live a simple life. every single one of us always wants more. mabye not excessively but we all want more. very seldomly did anyone want less. now this is only my opinion.

"To me greed in business is when you have something for sale and realize that there is a high demand for that product, so the price goes way up. " -- WRONG! if this was the case then most of us businessman are considered greedy. this is the simple economic rule of supply and demand. why were iphones at such high prices (1st generation) and now they are doing a promo on $99? would you consider that greed then on Apple? next, when the computer gaming consule came out first in the market. didn't people line up on walmart and sold it on ebay for the highest bidder? greed or oportunity to make money? lets got to home mortage industry, wasn't it greed that made the downfall of this economy..whis really to blame the people who were doing the loans or the buyers that were wanting more and dreaming that in 6 months the value of the house will double to tripple and make tons of money. it goes two sides-a very gray side that only one side is being blamed. when you sign a contract for your own sake read it, no one fooled anyone except themselves for believing that money is earned easily. and i am not a loan officer or a realtor so don't think i was one. in business their is no such thing as greed. business is business and that is reality in my own opinion.

"And it doesn't have to be the same person to do it. Like in this situation." - now tell me what situation is this your refering to because i was out of mfk for several days and went for my vacation. i would like to know.

"I only wish that the people that brought these in would have thought it over a little better. So we could have more armatus on mfk." - tell me please what should the people who brought them in should have done or should do? sell them at $50 as i did last year? is that what you meant? what if their cost is much higher and the DOAs? i brought them in for $50 that was last year. this year is not 2008..it is 2009. these fish commanded $250 and up each easily before and it was sold out. i respect these sellers/vendors for what they sell and what they have accomplished in the years they have been in business. i am new and maybe SEVERELY FLAWED that's why i sold it for $50.

we are just doing a simple discussion right...lets move on. what else should we talk about to clarify this thread's purpose or wellbeing if you may want to put it that way.

greed NOUN:
An excessive desire to acquire or possess more than what one needs or deserves, especially with respect to material wealth.

capitalism NOUN:
An economic system in which the means of production and distribution are privately or corporately owned and development is proportionate to the accumulation and reinvestment of profits gained in a free market.

To sell for profit is NOT greed! :grinno: It's capitalism! :grinyes: Now, let's move on! :D
BTW, missing your mortgage payment to buy a new stereo or game system is NOT greed! :grinno: It's selfish! You made your landlord suffer, your family suffer, so you can satisfy your inconsiderable need! :screwy:

Your right its not 2008. That was the year were everything was becoming more expensive because of the capitalism (:screwy:) that is our goverment. And now its 2009 and everything has settled back down price wise. Or atleast everything that could cause a major increase in armatus price.

The rest of all that BS has nothing to do with armatus. Or its market.

I can't beleive i did all that with out BIG words

Capitalism is everywhere and becoming part and parcel of our lives.
It is unfair, but sometimes no choice, if you need that thing(such as a neccesity) very much. Petrol is one example, price in the whole world compared to S.America.

Now you wondered why L47(zebra) shoots up so much and a pc of Alexandris(pacman, 5 inches) costs S$500 each, just because it took lufthansa from Germany, despite the fish originating from Amazon Brazil.

2 inches Armatus at 220 usd is very expensive, given that it's identify is not 100% proven and it is fragile and u can't judge it's quality at the small size. But if you are in Singapore, where there is not a single pc for sale in the open, this seems to be a very reasonable deal(my own opinion).

In US, where there is abandance of such fish mayb situation is different.
Such an odd balls where it is not popular among most people(except the crazy ones on MFK), it is not easy to standardise the price.

2008 was not the year that everything was getting expensive. i brought it at $50 is that expensive. if you can't manage to buy the armatus then buy the cheaper one since your not greedy its better you buy a cheaper fish that is readily available. 2009 is not the time to settle the price down nor bring up the price. prices are posted according to what sellers and buyers are willing to pay.

"Or atleast everything that could cause a major increase in armatus price." - does DOA count on this part since 2008 and 2009 is different years. does that mean this year no DOAs for all the importers? because DOAs can cause the price to go up that is for sure and a guaranteed statement. i'm not severely flawed on this part.

"The rest of all that BS has nothing to do with armatus. Or its market." - which BS are you talking about. get it straight so we are all in the same page. you said you wanted a schooling of fish right. well armatus can school as well in quantity depends if you can afford it or not.

"I can't beleive i did all that with out BIG words"- that is what you call font size. the bigger the better right?

it is very simple..the armatus is in the united stated with another vendor/seller. not with me..but when they want to command a price they are comfortable with good for them. you assumed that their is none anymore. that's a very flawed assumption.

we all have a choice to buy or not, or to enjoy it and stop crying about the price. if you can't afford to buy it then quite crying, if you want it and you think its worth the money then go ahead. but don't say you don't want the fish if you keep on debating on the price. go get a tat instead since it is about $50 or so... more affordable.
