you have proved my point the tank was to packed but i was tring to get a pair which you have shown in the 2nd pic

2 x 2ft asian aros in a 84x32 is fine

you are moving 2 silvers into a 96x36 whats the point silvers need 48 wide min as its just not right them having to bend to turn

thanks for showing the pics as it proves my point the other aros were going into a 1000 gal but i changed my mind and just kept a pair but that pair didnt work so im now down to 1 aro in a 8x6 but even if i had kept all the aros in the 1st pic they would have been fine in a 8x6

thanks for showing the pics as even with all the aros in yje tank my water was still 10 x better than yours :)

Again your reading and comprehension skills are horrendous. I AM NOT MOVING THE SILVERS TO A 96 x 36. They already in a 96 x 36:nilly:as stated many times. The plan is to separate the two pairs Because I now feel the tank they are in is too crowded and will only become more crowded as they grow.

Still following or do I need to type slower?

I already stated my plans for the next tank, this tank may or may not house any arowana. Now if ya can't recall my previous post you can easily scroll up and try to read again. I will take under advisement your opinion on the 4' width, but frankly IMO that width would be really small for an indoor pond.

Either way if your tanks are 10x better then mine. It is far from the spotless and crystal clear that you claim. This even seems to be the issue with your new tank:confused:

Okay guys, no fighting and personal attacks. Where I volunteer we have a silver in a grow out tank that is probably somewhere between 500g-1000g and his final destination will be a tank that is around 2000g, and the size of a small room. I just wanted to know if I can get away with having a tank smaller than those to house one for it's life. I'm enjoying hearing about everyone's different aros and opinions, but you can all share your opinions and help me/each other without flaming!!! I find that when someone has a different opinion than you and you know/think that it is detrimental to the health of an animal, they are less likely to listen to you if you just go ahead and flat out tell them they are wrong. The best way to help people in that situation is to gently lead them to the correct/what you perceive as the correct way to do things.

The OP asked about aro tank size. Was he referring to asians, silvers, blacks jars? They grow to be different sizes and grow at different rates and immediatly people are throwing out numbers.

>=( I'm not a dude!!!! :banhim: JK. But seriously I posted probably a few posts down from my OP that I'll probably get a silver. And by probably I mean absolutely if I do get a big enough tank to house one. And I would already have that tank and all necessary equipment before even thinking of purchasing my aro.

your tank water is plain to see in the you tube vid in your sig which takes up half page every time you post

your tank is 3ft wide and I'm having problems seeing the back tank glass as your waters that bad

my tank is 6ft wide double the width of yours and i can see all the detail in the background

let the public decide who's water is better

Have you seen a 10 year old silver I have and it was well over 3ft
There's a big difference between "well over 3'" and "4'+". :screwy: And yes, I've seen some pretty old silvers. I saw one last summer at the Ripley's Aquarium in Myrtle Beach, SC that was also easily over 3' and ridiculously deep-bodied, but it was certainly nowhere near 48".

I don't see how you could even tell due to the difference in video quality (no offense to Brian, but his vid is not nearly as clear as yours). And I also don't understand how water clarity is relevant to this discussion, considering that the appearance of the water often has very little to do with its actual chemistry. For example, if you put a 2000 gph sump filled with fine mechanical media on a 75 gallon that has 200ppm of Nitrates, the water will be perfectly clear, but the Nitrates are not going to change, so I fail to see your point.

No offense taken, vid shot with my daughters $120 camera. Not to mention I only have two 3' light fixtures on the tank. They are placed within the front 12" of the tank, just trying to provide light to at least film what's closest to the glass. Not sure why anyone would want to see the back glass(acrylic) as it is just black. Heck there are points where my aros disappear into the darkness and they are in front of the back acrylic.

I like to see my whole tank what's the point in having 6ft width if you can only see 2ft of it

All people seem to say is yes I have seen a 10 year old silver but it was in a zoo or public aquarium never in someones home tank

3ft wide is def not big enough for a full grown silver you would also need a tank 3ft deep as silvers have a very deep body when big

As for aros in ponds I have never seen the point as aros look great when veiwed from the front but boring when viewed from above

Well, considering that I've only seen 3 aros in person in private tanks (and that's including mine), is it really that surprising that none of the 3 were a decade old? This is yet another point of yours that I don't understand.
