Forgive me if this has already been said but I was once told by a lady (Asian in origin) that if a arowana jumps out of the tank and dies its sacrificing itself in hopes to protect you from bad luck.

So I guess it depends on how your aro's died. xD

i kind of heard the same thing after my first aro jumped out of the tank. when i went back to get another one i wasnt' sure if they said good or "bad" luck...maybe something else because i threw it in the trash.:WHOA::uhoh:

All of this is Asian superstition. Asians consider arowana to be good luck charms and to allow one to die is supposed to bring bad luck to the owner of the fish. It's no different from carrying a rabbit's foot on a key chain, something that was popular in American culture. We've heard the myth of walking under a ladder or allowing a black cat to cross one's path.

from what i heard is that if an arowana jump out of your tank and died then its bad luck.
and i kinda believe it cuz my dad friend own a restaurant and one day his arowana jumped out and died and the business went down.

An average life of an Arowana is 20 - 30 years, and as human life span have an average of 76 years

so no matter how well we keep the fish, we will still be taunt by bad luck

since we live three times longer than an Arowana

It's Not Fair!!!

sell your aro and buy a new one every 10-15 years and you wont have a problem :D

A great economic mind!

I'm trying to keep a very open mind about this since I'm going to be purchasing a RTG soon and my Grandad has cancer so obviously I would not want to risk it and provoke its spreading. I remember an incident when my arowana had died and then I was told my Grandad had a stroke. Whether its a coincidence or not we will never know.

i think i was told, that its bad luck for a juvenile aro to die. but if grows to a large size maybe 2ft, it is good luck

i had always heard that if an arowana died just randomly that he died to protect you from something bad.

not really superstitious, just dont like taking my chances!

edit- dude, why did you bump this up?
