hi i have an 18 foot by 8 foot by 5 foot deep pond and i was wondering if i shud pud arowanas inside to add sum surface activity. since it is a deep pond i am scared that arowanas may be able to jump out.... would u take the risk?
cover the whole pond! thats a big net...i think my mum wud be pissed cause the pond is the centrepiece of our garden, might look ugly. but i suppose ure right. sacrifice looks for overall safety....
is just a normal fishing net suitable enuf? i find nets better than steel cages cause the fish dont hurt themselves as much. plus, nets absorb shock much better than steel which just breaks.
I think aros in your pond would be great. If in the pond they would be less likely to get spooked and jump aimlessly. However they may jump after food so some precations should be taken.
thats y im terrified to put my asian arowana inside. thousands of dollars wahsed downt he drain cause of one jump. OH DEAR. i might risk a jardini or sum silvers though...
IMO you should be ok without a net... arowana are naturally jumpy, but your pond is so big that it will "simulate" swimming in the open, i wouldn't go as far as covering the whole thing, maybe perhaps add something to the edges like a nice looking fence
