Arowanas in pond. would you risk it???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Your pond sounds awesome! I personally wouldn't risk my Asian aros, so if I were in your situation I would sacrifice the aesthetics for the safety of my fish. Maybe if you get a black swimming pool net (cover) it wouldn't be so intrusive ... ? What stock do you currently have in there?

Anyways, good luck and please post some pics of the pond, net or no net.

i have two RTCS (3 feet), two TSNS (2.5feet) and 2 royal clown knifes (bigger than RTCS) havent seen them in 6 months because im studying overseas but my maid sez they r HUGEEEE....i duno if the fence thing would work considering arowanas can jump 6 feet out of water sooooo...

The fence IMO should be OK because the pond is so large, the fish will not be inclined to jump OUT, rather than UP to eat food. Arowana tend to want to jump out when they are constricted in a small area (such as a fish tank).

How about trying it our with a group of silver arowanas... just hope they don't get eaten by the other fish

yeh only 6 months ago they where dwarfs next to the RTCS...ever since they moved into the pond...WOW...i have no doubt they will reach their wild size of about 4 feet.

I would put a 3ft or so fence around the edging of the pond so if the aro jumps, it hits the fence and falls back in. But what are the chances that they jump at the edge over 3ft fences every time?
