Arowanna killer

The first thing you need to do is add another filter! You should always have two or three on any size tank and yours is rated up to 150g which means you need to double that! You could even add a hang on filter. I would recommend buying one larger than 6" and housing him with only a few tank mates. Also as stated above 25-50% water change. If you don't have a python or equivalent to do WC than you need 1! Find out what the Arow is eating when you buy it and if you are having trouble eating than try live crickets.

if its smaller that 4-5 inches put it in the 10 gallon, i noticed that small arowana have a huge problem with eating in big tanks. so either buy bigger arowana or just start it in the ten gallon and go form there.

maybe a 30g. You should be able to find a larger more stable arowana on Craigslist real easy.

i bought my brother an arowana that was about 3 1/2 so he could put it in his 29, not a great idea last about a week. had same problem wouldnt eat and died the rest of the 9 arowana that ive had started in a ten gallon until i knew they ate and then were moved to a 55 until about 8-9 inches where i had to sell. i would strongly suggest a 10 until i knew it is a strong eater.

I don't think you will have anyone on here you has successfully grown these fish out to adult agree with the 10g tank at any stage but to each his own!

just trying to share what i know and what i KNOW is THAT SMALL AROWANA DO BETTER IN SMALLER TANKS UNTIL THEY EAT WHAT YOUR FEEDING THEM

also something i left out is when small give lots of live plants in the tank always a +, and martinboy kinda sounded like you did. sorry

maybe it is the store =D ask if the store can feed the fish before you buy t, then the one that one that eats most

putting another filter in the tank would be a little much. This filter is quite strong, another one would make it like a river. Although the one seemed to like to play in the current, the others avoided it. I think the red tail shark is a little too playful, and his constant chasing of the bala's bothers the arowanas. I went back to the fs they have a seven inch. He's skinny. they put a few goldfish in there, and he wouldn't eat. I told them to try crickets. no luck. I didn't buy. No other stores inthe area have one save Oceans and seas. They have two 8 inch blue arowanas. Blue arowanas?
they look like some kind of silver, with darker fins. $300.00 thats 25% off!!. They've been in the tank for 4 weeks. they obviously eat. I'll transfer the red tail shark to another tank. Maybe find one on craigs list. I crushed the blue gill yesterday. Yum!!.
