well I hate to say it but I did this. I ordered an aro, and what came is was a yoke sac. I am a firm believer in raising small/ new aros alone. I put him in a 10 gal for about a month he was eating flakes and then to hikari floating pellets (mini) and then moved him to a bigger tank.. I had success with the 10 gal... just MHO

Right on. Cute little buggers though. Smarter than they look too. However, when it comes to dinner, it's eat first ask questions later. You can train them to do alot of things, as long as it involves getting fed. :)

Do you ever test the water before you do your water changes? Or i should say test the water in the bucket before you add it in??
 
Igor is still doing well. I think the reason some would say the 10 gallon Idea is bad is because the fish will outgrow it whiole he is still quite fragile. Not much different then buying a 6 inch baby though. Properly transpoted could be even less stressful. I'm sticking to keeping him in a 150 gal because when he outgrows it he will be almost adult, and not nearly as fragile.
 
I used to but it's kind of a waste now. I always use the same buckets, and never use them for anything else. After 50 or so tests It becomes cumbersome, costly and futile. We get good water. Low ammonia, little chlorine. If it sits for a few days it will usually be Ideal.
 
Almost two weeks now. Igor was very aggressive this morning, charging nearly the length of the tank to crush a cricket. How he sees them from so far away I don't know. If this one dies It won't be from being too timid. When he's in the pond he'll be able to jump for his food. That will be cool.

Right on. Laughs are cool. Two weeks today. Igor is still quite aggressive. Two crickets this morning. I'm being very careful not to over feed. He still likes flakes. This should make pellets an easy switch. Priceing Glass for new pond. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!! Might have to donate Porter (RTC) to Lou's Pet Shop. Still going to need larger home for Igor soon enough. That's what credit cards are for, right? Second filter has quieted down. They get a little noisy if they sit awhile. Filter cleaning tomorrow morning, then boat clean and polish. It's going to be a long day. Toys are nothing but work. B= Break
