Columbian shark as in ariopsis seemanni? Grows to 16" max and needs full salt as an adult. Must add salt starting when they hit around 6". Go fully salt by the time they are 12". If not they will die off, but these changes in salinity will kill off your other freshwater fish. I would go with another type of fish. These grow so slow that your artc would eat it before it got to any real size anyway. ARTC get huge. Zungaro Zungaro get huge and are really nasty mean. i've kept a few. Grow to around 6'+ and are pure attitude. Would be a nice cage fight to see which would win when large. You'd of course have to grow them in seperate tanks first before adding them together at a large size. You'd need a very, very, very, large (5000 gal or more) tank to house an adult artc with anything else so that it would have a chance to escape. You'd also have to keep it well fed so that it's hunger wouldn't get the best of it's tankmates. If you truely want to keep this monster dedicate the 800 to it and grow it out huge. Post up pics for everyone to see. How sure are you that you have a true artc? Many that have been posted are smaller similar species.

LOL--5000 gallons!!! I think your overexaggerating.

Not at all I don't even think 5000g would be enough so anything could escape the ARTC ...

I have to agree with taksan on this one. I am almost done with my 4,000 gallon and a buddy of mine asked me if I would take his 2 foot artc from him when I had it up and running. I said HELL NO! Its the first fish I have turned down taking in in a long time. I told him to buy himself an above ground pool for his garage.

My Asian RTC, and my dovii. but I will surely add a couple more. Maybe a Columbian shark, but I think my cat will chase him..hopefully I will be able to upgrade the 800 SOON!!

I will try adding some pic's.

I am sorry Predatory but sounds like you are giving your ARTC some very expensive feeders, do you have a pond planned for when he outgrowes the 800g.?

um im not gonna flame you but a RTC will probably be the winner of all your fish in that tank but i dont know how a ARTC is..im assuming a bigger version maybe of a RTC?..but im kinda wondering why you want a RTC, ARTC, and Dovii..in a 55..thats overstocked as it is get a way bigger tank but a RTC will have to eventually be a pond fish..

ARTC are pretty good to keep in smaller tanks (min 55).. meaning they kind of grow to tank size and dont need 1000g like TSN or RTC.....however they are VERY agressive and do not play games. There appetite is pretty normal as well. I have had two in my experiance. I would not consider them as eating you out of house and home.. but your other fish will NOT be pretty becuase the ARTC will beat them down to the "white meat" lololol

I had one in with a large 4 year old oscar.... and they went head to head.... was always a good fight, nothing life threatening or even battle scars.. but they fought ALL the time
