So your saying there are ways to get one if you just want one...? Im not greedy I dont want 5, I just want one...lol

To answer you question; YES, just like any product they can be bought in the U.S., there is an underground market that sells, trades these fish. I have even seen 5 to 6 inch greens for sell in public fish stores. It all really comes down to what connections you have and how well they know and trust you.

The old "But I only want one!" Oh man, I get emails, PMs and calls every week from the US to convince me to ship asian arowanas down south.

Honestly, some people are making money on it as always, the forbidden fruit is so sweet, eh? Well, ask yourself this, how sweet is after 50k fine and a conviction on your file. Is it worth it?

Last I've heard simple RTGs in US go for 1.5-2k each. I say to you guys, move to Canada. 2k gets one a community of 8 (almost anyway) :headbang2

Simply not worth it. Go for a Black Jardini if you want something "special".

seriously is that a question? I love fish keeping, but I'm not an idiot.

I have noticed something... the Jardini's front fins (I think they're the pectorals... the ones that would be the equivalent to arms) end in a sort of dome, while the Asians' front fins tend to sort of spike out more. Is this a valid way of checking?

Seriously, its ALMOST impossible to mix up an asian with a jar unless you were retarded. Totally different colours and body shape, even the scales are so much bigger, I have no clue how someone could mix them up.

so i know the legality on the asian arows but i'm wondering why every once and awhile on aquabid.com there will be an asian marked for sale in the states, so i click on it. I check the location of the seller, and alot of times its already within the united states.:screwy: I'm wondering if this is supposed to be some kind of undercover asian arowana police out to try and catch people, or if someone smuggled it in. Any ideas?

Also, i find it hilarious when i see a "Asian Jardini" on aquabid.

Cheers.

don't kid yourself, the market for Asian arowanas in the U.S is huge, and if you look around you will find evidence of people even on MFK owning them. Some adds are bait set out by agencies trying to cut down on the illegal market for them, but it's been very difficult to close this market, being that it's so large and the money involved with fish like AA's is hefty.

If it has the question mark, than it is a question. :naughty: I wasn't trying to prove how big of an idiot you are (sarcasm underlined) ...I was merely emphasizing the danger in owning an asian arowana. One or more it doesn't matter, once nailed the fine is brutal.

All the best my friend.

Even though I'm not a fan of the asian aros. Just my opinion.

But I think that the government should make them legal in the cold winter states. And make it illegal if you live in a warm state or are trying to transport it to a warm state.
