To be fair I've never seen him actually mention his own IQ score (though yes the fixation is a bit odd, esp. as there's not much if anything we can do to increase IQ, rather it's a case of making the most of what we've got :)).
Yeah, but I worry that I don't have the IQ to be successful. It's fun to worry about things you can't change, ain't it?
That said Carp buddy, you still haven't replied to the most profound question yet posed in this thread...
I said ask me anything, I didn't say I would answer everything ;)

He mentions it a lot in PMs :p

Attitude > aptitude. Through working hard I went from top 50 to top 5 in the grade in just over a year.

That is only true some of the time, if you had an extremely low IQ, it wouldn't have been possible. I get perfect grades just because I don't intentionally skip assignments, no matter how dumb/tedious/pointless they seem. So yeah, attitude is important, but IQ is crucial.

Well thing is, if you want something in life you must work for it. Over here you can hand in every assignment but the work you put in makes a huge difference. What's a perfect grade over there?

Here top 10 is between 75-86%.

An A is a perfect grade, above 95%. I have an A in every class. Each assignment is worth a point value, and above 95% is an A. I just do what the assignment says to do, LOL. On most assignments I get 100%.

I guess that I worry that the standards are set too low at school, but then I see other kids who are struggling just not to fail. I guess that everyone also has a different amount of work they put in on an assignment they consider to be"normal", and how much effort that takes, and I think it correlates with IQ. They also did this reading test at school, and it turns out that I can read at over 800 words per minute while still recalling information perfectly, so that helps but I'm not a big fan of things that are timed, especially when the time pressure is made obvious. For example, there was this test where you had to name all of the countries in Europe on a map, and it had a 20 minute time limit, and I finished in under two minutes and got every one right, but had it been say a 3 minute time limit, I doubt I would have been able to do it.

You're riding a horse Carp. To the right of you is a cliff and in front of you is an elephant moving at the same pace and you can't overtake it. To the left of you is a hippo running at the same speed and a lion is chasing you. How do you get to safety? NO using search engines!

I eat the Lion, just how the circle goes down here in Africa.

How fast is the lion and how fast is the horse? If the the lion isn't running as fast as the horse, you just stay on the horse.

Carp you sound just like an ex of mine. So obsessed with academic smarts and putting so much value on what tests say.
It was very sad to watch how negatively it was impacting his life. Putting his self worth into how well he did on tests. I’ve never known someone so pessimistic, sad, depressed, all because of test scores. Don’t let that be you.

Doing well I’m school is important, but even if you aren’t in the top 10 it doesn’t mean you won’t live a successful life.

I thought all this IQ talk was just to mess with people, but if it’s really something that’s on your mind this much I’m afraid you’ll be in for a lifetime of disappointment.
