thats awesome kenyan I wish all my bass would do that

awesome fish, and they really love swimming into powerheads. As much as they like to eat, remember to give them a day off for digestion once a week. And as much as they can stretch and swallow huge things, it's best not to fill them up too much. Other than that, they are hardy, awesome fish!!!

I was really surprised with how much time these guys spend in the open. I've never had a catfish that actually comes out when you enter the room. Now, as soon as I turn the lights on, they are at the top of the tank waiting for their meal...the LOVE to be hand fed. :)

Thanks for the tip Onion...I'm currently doing just that. I only feed them every other day just to prevent any sort of overfeeding...damn can these things eat. :nilly:

i got my about 9" ,and i never seen him eat anything yet for a week
so tonight i going to try to hand feed him with shrimp
question, how can get them out of the corner because i never seen him left the corner?

Mine did the same thing...they just sat in the corner of the tank and swam against the flow of the filter. As soon as I got them eating, they were out and about. I woke up this morning and they were both in the middle of tank...one just kind of chilling and the other started begging for food as soon as he saw me get up.

Damn I love these cats!!! :D

thats why i love em!!
great personality like an rtc!
eat almost as much but dont grow big!
too bad their so expensive...

Hey guys, I was thinking about getting one or two of these guys to keep with my rays. Problem is, Im hoping to breed them. Could one of these guys when they get bigger eat a new born (around 5") ray?

That's a tough one...I've heard stories from both sides of the spectum on this one.

The "yes" people tend to claim that rays are one of the best tankmates for gulpers due to their large surface area and the fact that they are extreme bottom dwellers. Gulpers don't really "hunt"...they just sit there and wait to be fed. I have some fish in the tank they they just ignore...and they were put in there for food. Now they just sit and wait for me to hand feed them shrimp. :D

The "no" people tend to argue that soley because the the gulper cats ability to take such large prey, no fish are truely safe unless they are MUCH larger than the gulper itself.

i think a 6-7" gulper can definitely eat a newborn ray

:iagree: a large gulper would def be able to eat a ray its just wether it would want to. mine wont chase or "hunt" anything it just waits to be hand fed. ive seen guppies swimming right infront of its mouth and it just ignores them so you could be ok but is it worth the risk????
