  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I totally agree, the less chemicals the better ... proves that I need it though! I'm expecting everyone to be back to normal when I feed tonight ... thanks man!

Man I had fish die from forgetting water conditioner before. I'm nit too worried about other chemicals but I don't skimp on the tap water conditioner! lol

I feel sorry for you guys...... lol IF I had to buy water conditioner I'd have to buy it by the gallon.

Not sure I remember the last time I used any. I use prime on fish when I pick them up at the airport to ix the ammo, but I haven't dumped any in a tank in years.

Drip systems are pretty nice to have in place..... ;) Of course it's a little trickier in areas with Chloramine, but if you're using well water I don't see the need for any chemicals? What would it be getting rid of besides Chlorine/Chloramine?

The town in which I live treats heavily with chlorine/chloramine. It's essential to treat here. They treat so heavily you can smell it in the tap water. :(

Wow that sucks. Makes it good to live in a small country where they don't treat with chloramine.

I do buy it by the gallon! Lol and put 1/2 to 3/4 of a cup in every water change ... I dont know about my well water, and how the house filtration works, I rent this house and dont know much of how that kind of stuff works, I just know I used it at the last place I lived so I continued to use it here ... now I know it is necessary! I use the API stress coat, never had any problems, although if I'm picking up fish and have a long car ride I'll use prime for the ammonia ... I dont use anything like prime in my tank though, figuring it would make my biological filter weaker by removing the ammonia chemically rather than "naturally" ... I have been looking into these drip systems that are used, I just really dont want to modify the houses plumbing, and the water changes really take an hour, maybe a little more, and I do about 40% twice a week, so not too bad .... if I get more tanks I can see it becoming very tedious and much longer though

That's a lot of loot spent on chemical and only going to get worse.......

I rent too...... Bit a drip is no different then another "appliance". What you do with what sticks out of the wall should be irrelevant to a landlord. ;)

Here's a few pics of how I did mine. Just split the washer lines, valves on the drip, drip line "Y"s from hot and cold. That line is a double run of 15' appliance hoses, to a manifold that holds 3 filters, a water line and valve for filling tanks, then a lil line for the fridge, and drips for 2 systems, and a feed for the RO.

Pretty? Nope. Simple? yes. They sound much more complicated then they really are. Just like drilling a glass tank, once you do it, you kick yourself for not doing it a looooooong time ago. :) Just something to consider, as it seems it will only get worse from here...... A lot of time in WCs and $ in chemical you could have back.
