From that big pic, I counted 49 LL scales, that places the fish firmly as a vittatus. There is some margin for error however as the rear end of the fish seems to be slightly outside of the clearly focused depth of field. If anything, I feel that its safe to say 48-50 scales, which is more than a tatf can have, so the difference is irrelevant.
Those are seriously the same fish? That is very interesting. Was the fish kept under odd lights when young or in a very dark tank? I've never seen a for-sure vittatus with a blue adipose before, that's whats really throwing me for a loop, though of course anything is possible.
