The congolli (Pseudaphritis urvilli) is also listed as the tupong and according to fish base is found in slow streams and estuaries in SE Australiaand Tasmania. It tolerates a wide range of salinity and breeds in weedy brackish areas, it gets to 36 cm and tolerates temps as low as 5 degrees C., recent catches have been made near Port Phillips Bay and in the Murray river as well as somewhere called Margate.
The Humphead (Kurtus gulliveri) is also called the nurseryfish or incubator fish and is found innorthern Australia and in New Quinea and is the only member of it's family. It gets to 63cm. andlives in temps. between 20 and 28 degrees C. in fresh to brackish water. It prefers slow turbid rivers and mangrove swamps. It is locally considered fine eating and is known to spawn in the Daly river in Queensalnd.
Neither fish is on the UUCN Red list of threatened species.
