ive seen barras for less than $10, but saratoga are usually over $100. a silver arowana with drop eye will usually cost around $700. one in good condition will be more. ive never seen an aussie lung for sale, but we rarely get those sort of fish in newy. someone asked me today where they could get a wolf cichlid (dovii) and i told him to look in sydney. a jaguar cichlid is a rare fish in newcastle, ive only ever seen one for sale.
and as far as i know anyone can keep barras, lungfish and aussie arrows. silver aros have alot of legal issues, but they are usually not enforced.
other natives such as catfish, bass and grunters are easy to get, alot of big pet shops even stock them. rainbowfish, not that they are probably of interest on mfk, are reasonably easy to get, but they sell out quickly in newy and take a while to get back in.
most tank or farm bred natives are seasonably available. or you can go to the local creek, river or pond and catch some wild ones; bass, catfish, eels and gudgeons are common in the southeast. so are trout, mosquitofish and carp
