I'm not sure what temperatures they can tolerate, but even in Brisbane I imagine ponds etc. could get down to around 15-18c in Winter, possibly even lower.

Nup too cold , need to heat ponds in winter.... up cairns way you wont need to heat

hey guys and girls im from maroochydore and i have a 5'x2'x18" with 2 silver sharks 3 clown loaches 1 red tailed shark 1 pleco 1 red devil 1 flowerhorn 1 green terror 1 firemouth 1 bifas all under 5' so no problems yet ! fingers crossed
