This is ingenious, but I've seen people try it before.
I don't think you will be able to keep fish in that tank.
I mean, what about the water conditioner? And removing waste from the substrate? YOu'd have to supervise every water change...
Well this system takes care of that... everytime the system is done doing a water change the fill tank fills up with new water to let it sit for however long you please.... SO whenever you can get around to it all you have to do is add some water conditioner.. You can even put a heater into the new water tank, so that when the old water is taken out and the new water is put in the new water is roughly the exact same temp as the water in the take so no fish experience a culture shock....
As for removing waste yes every month or 2 months you'll have to siphon that out if you have a normal tank with gravel... but for my tanks I have many bottom feeders and plants that help absorb the waste... I also use sand so the waste doesn't get lodge in the gravel and usually a fish swims buy it and it will get sucked up into the overflow... Or with this water changer the pipe that is used to suck out old water can be extended to the near bottom of the tank to help remove excess waste sitting on the bottom....
