You have a very good point and alot of people don't know the stuff you said about the breeds. As for my dog . She is back with me now after someone broke in a neighbors house across the yard. I talked my land lord into keeping her for protection since most the time my wife is home alone with my son while I'm working. Your right I should have choose a different title for this thread. To be honest I respect everyones point of views on this subject but it does cause alot of arguments cause some people like the one who posted the link to those can speak from experience. They go by what they read and hear on the news. Sent from my Comet using MonsterAquariaNetwork App
Hello; I posted the links in this particular thread due to the way things went on a related thread some time back. My comments were taken to task and often dismissed as being only my opinion and thus of no more value than some other persons opinion. My thinking this time is to add some evidence from other sources. I cannot personally verify the accuracy of the various news agencies such as Fox or Huffington, nor the dog bite website. Some forum members are clearly not going to accept any criticism of their favored dog breeds and it is not a surprise that one way to down play the evidence is to express misgivings.
I have seen the video of the ten year old boy from near Knoxville TN months after being mauled by a dog. He was scarred and had lost his ears. The community was trying to rally around him and give his family support. These attacks do happen and even if some fault can be found in the details, I do not see how this evidence can be dismissed.
In the particular case of the tragic death of the three month old in Texas I did go by what I read from the news agencies. Am I to not believe that the infant was not killed by a family dog? Both news stories that I read stated that the dogs were pitbulls so yes; until some other evidence is presented I will go by those reports.
That the news agencies go for stories like shark attacks, dog attacks, shootings and such does not mean that these things do not happen. Behind the headlines that the news people run are personal tragedies that affect real people.
For the forum members that trust their dogs and have them around their children, my sincere hope is that all goes well for you and yours.
