Agreed but this young flowerhorn seemed more male especially at this small size with the body shape as a whole.I have always been a strong believer that the anatomy of the FH kok is a poor guide on FH gender.

I’ve seen lots and lots of flowerhorn male and female before and I speculate this fish is male. Venting would be a more for sure way to know but once a fish is grown more often than not you can EASILY tell the gender for sure so I wouldn’t say “Vent it or never know simple as that”.Hump doesnt need to be huge to donate "male" it's all about the attachment and structure of the kok not so much its size.
Not sure how people can say this. Does it look more male because it had a gut ?. Vent it or never know simple as that. the rest is speculation and always will be for FH

Same lolThis is the very first time I've heard anyone talk about the "attachment and structure of the kok" as being a gender determinant -- is this your own theory or did you read it somewhere?
This thread was never about who can do this and who can do that. There is no right or wrong. I'm just trying to give advice that I use personally after my own experience. There is only one way to be sure about the sex of your FH at any age and that's venting. To say otherwise doesnt help this thread in the slightest really
