I disagree. There has been some good anecdotal information for the OP, who raised the very questions of both gender and kok size. The info we have given is certainly more helpful to OP than "throwing in spanners" and suggesting his fish, which was sold to him as a male from a "reputable seller", is a female, then trying to back it up with some weird explanation that nobody else, incl. I'm sure the reputable seller, has ever heard of. For you to suggest there is no correlation between kok size and gender with ZZ's is what isn't helping OP at all.

If you kept that fish in that much space from 3 inches to 3.8-4 inches now then the space is for sure affecting his growth. You need to give him more space. Also if those black lines always show then you need to find out why he is stressed.

I would be more concerned about the health than gender.

Thanks for the responses to my posts. I wont bother again, you're responses are what this whole forum needs quite obviously. Ridicule is what this op needs. Class
 
This thread has nothing to do with ridicule, it's just some peeps trying to help out OP, who by his reply in post #34 seems pretty thankful -- no need for you to turn this into some drama just because somebody asked for more information about your "attachment & structure of kok" theory and you couldn't provide a rational reply.
 
Are you just going to keep responding with this over and over and over? **** this forum with people like you here. I have done nothing but try and help
 
My replys are in what I've already posted. I'd rather not spend my life doing this with the likes of you. Simple as that. Didn't see much reply from yourself about why the body shape is such a thing for you but nevermind, I'm not here to ridicule yourself or any other user
