baby Hoplias aimara ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i didnt end up doing the salt , and the fungus just disappeared after a bit .
i loved the look of the cardianl tetras in Flachsi thread that he had with his big aimara . my guys are about 11 inch now i would say . im wondering if there big enough to not bother the cardinals if i was to try it . you guys think they would not bother with them them ? i might have to try

I'm almost 100 percent sure they'll be eaten at this size lol

I wouldn't guess until they're over a foot. DB said his amapa didn't turn the jet black they're known for until past 1' and I believe I've read of others saying the same can't quite remember. Where'd you purchase them from, could just ask the vendor or store

the place i got them from in toronto told me they were from Columbia . i emailed below water to inquire about different variants and which ones come from columbia . i was told that aimara werent coming from columbia so i really dont know which variant it could be . they also change color quite a bit depending on mood and were they are in the tank

heres a few more pics . im really enjoying these guys . you can see a couple scales missing on this guy , not sure how it happened . once in a while it happens there pretty rough and tumble . i dont think in this case it was the other fish though not that i seen anyways . check out the blue brownish color coming through in some of the pics they really are a beautifully ugly fish :D

Looking good, I'm kind of surprised it's working with just two

i know its wishful thinking ,but im still hoping i lucked out and have a male and female and maybe they could form some kind of pair . not sure if this is in there nature or not ? there is slight differences in there body and head shapes and there temperments so who knows would be pretty cool
