Thanks guys! Ill try getting more pics of him. the checkerboard is even better in person. has a cool head striping i tried getting it in the one picture but it didnt show up very well. Reminds me of some of the big koliba ive seen on here. stripe down the center of the head, with 2 light stripes over the eyes outlined with really dark brownish green pinstripes to separate it all. tried feeding him some catfish fillets and he didnt want any of that so it looks like ill be cleaning the tank again. good time for more pics!
 
for now hes still in a QT tank, after the other little guy died ive been keeping him under super close observation. ill be adding some red sand after i can convince myself that he is healthy and not going to suddenly stop eating like his former tankmate. seeding a new spongefilter for the tank right now that will be running off a small powerhead to help keep the tank circulating and keep the BB up
