Apartment. Get an apartment.

I agree,

You probably wont be able to have a dog in your dorm or Apt. But A Turtle or some fish? Sure!

In College I had 2 aquariums in my apt.
I do admit a lot of horrible neglect around finals.

I have hatched and raised one of these beasts to adulthood. He now resides in my mothers pond where he gulps up ANYTHING that gets close enough. He is 8 years old and probably pushing 40 lbs. Great pet if you never want to touch him. I actually got him when I was 13. Technically he is a Florida Snapper though. It's cool watching the little pigeons come in for a drink and wind up lunch. I rarely ever feed him as he is quite capable of catching his own food and the pond is stocked with various native fish. This isn't your standard "garden pond" BTW. Probably around 30 foot diameter. Also, I would say he doubled in size every 3 to six months for the first two years so if you plan on keeping him long term get him a big horse trough to live in within the next year or so.

'Gator snappers live in the wild in the province of Ontario. I doesn't matter whether they are ferral or have been here since the Wisconsin glaciation retreat....the fact is they're here!
