Perhaps you need to widen your knowledge by searching for what he keeps and sells ;)

As other people said , being happy with the fish it's all that matters...... but from a vendor perspective, calling an IT an ST can be perceived as false advertising and that's not cool.
Yes! The main reason when a person purchase a fish is whether he's happy with it. Doesn't matter what other called or said about the fish. While it's not right to call an IT a ST, it's also not fair to assume a D. pulcher an IT, just because of the tail stripe

Just because he buys and sells other fish doesn't mean he knows a lot about them like I said I'm not dissing him but my LFS sell loads of different types of fish but some of the people who work in the shop can't tell a guppy from a angle let alone a ST from a IT

My point is we never see mike post in this part of the forum so just because some sells something doesn't mean they know everything about it a lot of people who vist this section of the forum all the time still can't tell ST from IT

I only vist parts of the forum that are to do with fish I keep and know about with over 22 years experience with only 5-6 different types of fish aro rays tigers tigrinus cat that give me more time to focus on the fish I like and not trying to sell and know about 100s of different fish

Look at it this way you buy in 40 tigers that were sold to you as ST at $400 each they land on your door and you then think they are IT are you going to tell everyone the 40 fish you just got are IT not ST cutting $300 of the resale price or are you going to tell people how nice they are mmmmmm let me think what would I do :D

I have a regular IT about 5inch long and stable all the time, eating pellets.
used to have a 3bar IT which wasn't stable at all.

Personally I think time will tell the true story about the CT.
I'f you wanna make the gamble then gamble, there is really nothing to lose cause you will end up with a cool big ass Datnioid after all.

Nothing to lose on a personal level if you're happy. The price of 3 bar indos going up in general because of the similarity to pulcher and a rarity of that fish due to being sold as pulchers..... a loss in general. IF 3 bar indos are being sold as pulchers with even the slightest knowledge on the vendors part that they're not really pulchers..........a blatant rip off.

this piece is very nice, love him really

I have a few questions for everyone. Take a look at the pictures below. I have had this guy for six month now since he was about 1.5". He is now around 3" and have been always stable like this since I bought him from a local pet store. Even with i take him out of the water, he's is stable. Does that make him Indonesian Datnoid or Vietnamese datnoid that vendor been getting $400 plus for similiar datnoid.Publication1.jpg
