Baby ST making a comeback?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
^ IMHO that's what it is.
Is the price right for you? If so nice fish. If you think you're getting as really rare fish for a knockdown price, a fool and his money........

I paid 145 which I considered a fair price for a stable symmetrical 3 bar indo at the time (before the indo invasion), but this is not the point. The reason I posted the pic is to show how sellers are trying to fish for someone who's lacking the ID knowledge, as some specimens can be alot harder to ID than mine.

It's not directed at you nomad. It's in relation to the "ST" being sold now.

They all seem to have 2 bar in the tail; 7 bars total.
So, assuming that is the giveaway... they´re all IT´s

Furthermore, a see a lot of oddballs there. Is that common in ST´s? I think not

Ok what about this guys to the right of the vid....We know their not true ST's but the dont have the IT tail pattern so now what for those who want to go by the tail markings. On top of that how many people have 3barred Indos with ST tail markings?

With that definition the above is IT then????

As I've stated before I'm no expert, but i have seen exactly what Bomber describe happen at JJ market Bangkok. I can point anyone to vendors where they can buy excellent 3 bar indos for high prices.
On the other hand i'm not convinced it's impossible to buy a real pulcher from Cambodia, or Vietnam through the right people.
What i am convinced of though is if or when those fish are available to buy in this part of the world, the USA and the UK won't see them because they'll get sold very quickly, for more money than most could find at the drop of a hat, simply by word of mouth. There are plenty of fish keepers here who have a lot of spare money and are just as keen to get a pulcher in their tank as any fish keeper anywhere.
If a vendor in the U.S is willing to pay 1000 dollars per fish it would be matched here no problems.
There are other markets that want them before the US or Europe as well, Japan for example, Singapore is another short step where people have a lot of money and are willing to spend.
I think if you see an "ST" for sale in the U.S for about 400$, you need to see it for what it is.

I totally agree!

These look like very good looking faux ST's. As long as your happy with them, Kudos to you.

I would add those to my collection with out even thinking. Although I would not pay 400 bucks for them. If they had the "typical" ST markings that we all know and love(three bars, fully stable, ST full tail, no hump on the 3rd bar), I would pay 400 bucks for a baby ST no problem. But I would have to hand select them cause I am crazy like that.

There are two Datnoids with a very unique tail pattern in this video. Yes their tail pattern connects but if you look really close, the top of the tail bar is not colored in 100%. "Most" standard classic ST's I have seen have the back part of their tail totally covered in black(Notice I said "Most" although there are exceptions where Legit ST's have the IT tails. Hows that for confusion). These to me look like high quality Faux ST's.
In this video I see how these can fetch the 400 dollar price for those wanting a ST at this point in time(not saying "funwow" paid this) If the seller annouces to everyone that he knows these are from Vietnam(and I do not doubt they are from vietnam) BOOM... 400 bucks a pop. So as I stated before:
a. 3 bars
b. stable
c. 4-6 inches
These Datnoids fit this description for the 400 sale.

With that being said, I am not an expert and this is just my opinion here. This thread is moving along with good info with out flammers;).

The thing is has anyone seen them all I have seen is someone trying to show everyone what they have but know one out side the place of origin has them

I see people in the US saying they have them on order but I have been hearing that for months now

If this were for real I know a few people in the US who would have gone bang here's my money send me 40 and the pics would have been all over this site

But it's not happening why
