Curious about the update of contacting the LA authorities instead of contacting tom?

Yeah tom had posted on his own the dats and gatf and others.
I forget what website he was using as "his list" but they sent the money directly to him for those fish. After a month or two they got tired of his BS about sending them "in a few days" then coming up with excuse after excuse and pushing back the shipment.

Paypal refunded their money.

On a side note, you can't count on that always happening. I've been ripped off on ebay (non-fish items) and they only refunded me about 60%

Like I was saying, nobody had any idea what a piece of **** he is. The prices seemed a little too good to be true but that was it. Sometimes vendors are really cheap though, so everyone just thought they were getting lucky. Nobody out here was trying to resell the fish, they were just trying to stock their tanks with nice fish at a good price.
Nothing I found on the site raised any red flags about him ???

because whenever theres a thread/post about it. mods delete it cuz they say its derailing so nobody knows about it. i never knew all this till a member got ripped off by him and tried seeking help by making a thread about it but of course it was deleted in a short period of time. you gotta be active on this site to know things.

Caveat emptor on all transactions. Wouldn't it make sense if you simply review the marketplace feedback first before transacting with a vendor? I think everyone must be vigilant on transactions. If you have a negative experience, give him a negative feedback for that and PM neoprodigy so he can be informed of the developments especially if this involves someone who frequently uses this forum for his personal business.

There is low tolerance here for scamming, flaking and the like that negatively derail a transaction but all the same, we warn buyers to be careful whom to deal with. Report those issues to staff. We will see what could be done and in the meantime, use the feedback system. The transactions are meant to be private.

Mods here are neutral. We don't take sides of either party involved.

Nikond- "you have to be active on this site to know things"

PLEASE tell me you have another account. Really 61 posts and your going to talk about being active on the forum?!?!?
I can assure you I spend more than too much time on the forum, and so do the other parties who were scammed.
Just like everyone has already stated, the threads with truthful negative feedback tend to disappear.

I understand when the moderator said that any shady sales should be reported to neo ... But I don't think he will appreciate everyone pm'ing him before they buy anything ...
"Li have you heard anything bad about cichlidsrool ??"

Perhaps, I should have clarified that IF this involves a commercial vendor whose negative feedback is piling up already, then the best approach is report to Neo, Deathcurl or any of the Buy and Sell staff immediately. Benzjamin13, mike dunagan, vanimate, Reefscape, the globals such as Gr8KarmaSF and Oddball, and the rest of the mods are around the clock. If in doubt who is online, contact the one you see online and he will relay it to the staff for discussion. I should have said it doesn't have to be Neo necessarily although he also handles issues like this and ultimately decides what needs to be done.

What do you mean the truthful negative threads disappear? They are categorized as derails and warrant deletion. They are not rightly put there as stated in the rules. We have rules against trainwrecking the threads with feedbacks that do not reflect to the original post asking for sales. Put your negative feedback in the feedback system, not the thread. It will not be deleted.

at the top of every page in the marketplace has this

Marketplace Feedback :
Use the marketplace feedback system to view the feedback history of any user. Simply click the “Marketplace Feedback” hyperlink under their avatar. Please remember that malicious use of feedback feature will result in disciplinary action.
When you leave a negative feedback, an email will be sent to all the staff.

it will be more effective to the marketplace feedback system if members use it at every transactions. if you look at the member in question's feedback.. there are only 2 negative. where are the rest?

Wow, this post fired me up to take some action of my own. I gave Tom the benefit of the doubt but he just dissappeared.

I was one of those that sent in money for the Garaunteed Goliath African Tiger Fish. Long story short, I was suckered into releasing my dispute to Tom because he said he would take care of me. Note to all, when you make a dispute and then release it, you can not open up a claim on that same issue if it is not resolved. Make sure everything is resolved before you ever release a dispute.

It gets complicated but Trust me this is the short version of the story. That goliath issue along with other fish I paid for was not resolved. I was suckered into sending him more money for goliath's banking that I was still getting Vittatus' for a great price. I talked to him on the phone weekly knowing mistakes happen and I wanted to give him a chance to make things right. Boy was I wrong.

I was going to invest money in these baby ST from the OP but the wife said NO because my issue was not resolved with Tom atm. Luckily I listen to her this time:grinno:.

After reading this thread today there is no doubt I now realized that Tom is a crook. Yeah, Yeah,... I was warned. Lesson learned.

I would like to share my lesson with anyone that sent the OP money. Here is what I learned.

1. With paypal, always link up the payment to your credit card. When things go bad they will do the leg work and refund you.

2. Never release a dispute when the issue is not resolved. Do not let the vender/seller talk you into release it.

3. I should have listen to my wife in the first place:D.

4. No photo, no deal!

If your sent your money through paypal linked to your credit card company, You are protected. If you linked your paypal straight to your bank account that you are screwed.

I have learned to love my credit card company. Discover heard the long version of my story:

Dec 26, 2009 and Jan 5, 2010 my shipment was released from dispute:wall:.

Jan 13, 2010 the money I sent in was disputed and money was credited to my acc and Discover is doing all the leg work to investigate this claim.

I hope this helps those who sent money to the OP via paypal/credit card.

Lessons learned.
