Good idea looking into the Remora. Mine doesn't seem to make much noise, but that may be because it is drowned out by the absolute roar of my ev-400.

The Remora I had wasnt that noisy at all, and for a while, was the only filtration on my 55. The Octopus I have now, in comparison, roars like a freight train.

In best interest of my tank I really would like an under cabinet set-up.
1. for better/more appropriate filtration
2. to get all the crappy looking equipe out of the main display
Anyone have any comments or criticisms on this. It will fit perfectly under my stand.

Yikes expensive. The skimmer is subpar from what I have heard and the wet/dry media should not be used(detritus trap).

Get a 10 gallon tank and make a sump. It is very simple to do, you just silicone in baffles where you want them and buy a skimmer(good one) and a pump. It will cost you a couple hundred dollars less.

It will probably be cheaper, and my bet is that it will probably work a little better as well. CPR makes good stuff, and its all function-able, but all of their products minus their overflow are outdone by something else in the market.

Did you notice that is is not just the wet/dry. It's a whole kit, overflow, skimmer & pump, wet/dry, return pump and hoses. I can replace the 'biobale' with balls if need be. I'm figuring between the coralife superskimmer that I have and the one that comes with this kit I should be doing OK on the skimming front. Just getting tired of homemade and DIY. Between the lack of free time and trying to get everything looking more on the 'professional' side. I'd like to go with a purchased unit. I haven't found anything that comes in a complete plug 'n' play kit like this one.
Paying for the ease of set-up I guess. lol

Bio media for saltwater is really overrated. What it really amounts to is a place to trap detritus, and no one is happy when that happens.

This is why you dont see people running wet/drys on SW tanks. You are also probably not getting the greatest skimmer for the price, but I agree, as an all in one, the price is probably decent.

Haven't posted any updates for awhile. Here's a recent pickup. Just yesterday actually.

New fixture is on it's way.. 2x 250W 15,000k HQI
2x 54W HO ActinicT5
3x Moon LED
I'll take a before and after video when I get it in. Next purchase will most likely be a better protein skimmer. The coralife is lacking anything spectacular! Skimmer I'm looking at getting is the Aqua-C Remora Pro.

Glad to hear you are looking into the remora!

And what a glorious roar that is! :D Actually the noise of my EV400 puts me to sleep.

The remora's foam injection nozzle can be loud, but unless it is the only water movement from/into the tank you shouldnt notice it.

It was/is the only filtration on the 75g reef pictured on this site, and sold a couple months back.
