I use Tap Water Conditioner because of heavy metals, I have well water, but that is beside the point. The Sulfites in prime may be what is irritating the rays. Not saying that they are not afflicted by a bacterial infection, but the sulfites can make they itchy at the exposed skin.

hikari ultimate water conditioner is great dose up to 10x tank volume and no sulfites...second best conditioner in line with prime... give it a try :)

Did your rays eating habits change? and how long did you medicate for? It is pricey but not as pricey as a bunch of dead rays.lol

no difference to very little change.... treated till problem was resolved or at a point where KISS could take over with good clean water and some salt... they say to do a double dose the first time this wont hurt your rays but since i do tablet for tablet(2 per 10 gallons) in combo this does your double dose and just follow it every other day...

Thanks tank and Nic. I do think the prime is irratating them so I'll see if the local store has any of the ones you listed, I think they only carry aqua plus.If not I'll get some on sunday when I go to get the maracyn products.

how much prime are you dosing to how much water you are replacing?

They're in a 300 gallon right now. I'm replacing a 100 to 150 gallons and dosing for the full 300. My filters stay runnng the whole water change. I add prime and then the water. After that I dissolve 2 lbs of salt in a bucket and add over 15 minutes and then dissolve the binox in water and add over 10 minutes. Sometimes meds first then salt.

do half the dose of prime... only dose what your replacing... try that for a few water changes

So I'm pretty sure my bio is totally shot on my tank. Every attemp to stop meds and get back to normal has failed. So would you let the rays live in bad water or finish of scratching till there end. This is where I'm at.....

you still using the binox??? each dose 30% of your bio... start adding cycle or stability to your system... add carbon to remove meds then add something to boost your bio....

IF the bio was shot wouldn't that stick out like a sore thumb in the water parameters?

Are you saying each time you dose Binox you loose 1/3 of your Bio?

Man this meds stuff as of lately is getting kinda scary.....

I haven't even opened my binox yet.

I'm so frustrated watching my rays fade... I've taken the meds out twice. Once by carbon and then 1 day later they scratch till there is no skin left on any part they rub up against the tank with. Then I've tried by by water changes same thing they start scratching again. I'm not sure what I can do left to torture them....
