there are quite a few species of smaller pythons. children's, spotted, some carpets dont get much bigger than balls.
i'm not too sure about prices these days.
those smaller pythons are quite good starter snakes as well - children's/spotted, etc

im pretty sure finding them and prices are my problem.:(
i love boas and pythons!

is your heat rock just a stone placed under a heat lamp or is it an electrically powered hot rock? those are notorious for burning reptiles pretty badly.

most snakes are more of belly-warmers - best on UTHs/heat tape/similar

also, good choice on feeding non-live

yea,i'll just use a lamp then.

For ease of care it's 100% corn (or king). If you decide to go with a BP you might have feeding issues, if at all possible go with a captive bred one.

My first snake was a retic, which went surprisingly well...not my first herp though, I'd kept many lizards and turtles including large species.

a retic!:WHOA:

i find heat lamps a pain and in my room they tend to heat it up because my vents arent that great :irked:
so i like using heat pads as much as i can
p.s i like it cold
like 60 degrees

plus i dont know if i can find heat pads here.

i actually had this exact same dilema, for me it ended to be corn snake because of the price, and they dont get to big or need a big enclosure, but in the end im not even allowed to get a snake lol :(

They're both fine pets. If you choose to buy a ball python, just make sure it's feeding on dead mice. Ask for a demonstration.

Ball pythons are easier to handle than corns- they never seem to be in a hurry, while corns can move fast when they want to.

Corns are easier to feed, as noted, and don't need quite as much space.

So, either way you go you'll be fine. If you want a beginner lizard, leopard geckos are a good choice.
