I'm planning on making an aquascaped tank based on a bamboo forest with panda butterfly goldfish, lucky bamboo, riccia and weeping moss, and maybe some anubias.
size will be a 40 gallon long, (36" x 18" x 13") with a sponge filter.
I already calculated the costs and all that, cost for the tank and everything in it/on it- $329.
My questions for this setup though are-
will goldfish eat the riccia or weeping moss?
how long do panda goldfish keep their black and white coloration?
I plan on adding ramshorn snails for algae control. I know some will get eaten, but will the goldfish choke on the snails or anything?
keep in mind that I will add everything else before the goldfish so the snails get a good population going and the plants grow/root in.

I have had success with goldies and moss, so I'd say that's a good idea.
The goldfish kinda suck the snails out of their shells, so I wouldn't worry about them choking on them. I've never had a problem with goldfish choking on the snails they ate, or from them exhausting an established snail population, so who knows?

Is this what you want?

Thanks for the advice.
I was planning on a tank more like these:

all these pictures belong to their respected owners
as for the tanks with bettas, I will not have the statues, and of course the tank won't be that small.
