Lookin' GOOD!

I really like the quality of the scape you have in that tank. Very well done my friend. :)

Great update! my 3 are also doing good and growing nice =) what are you feeding yours now? mine came out during the day for some NLS Thera A.. I was shocked! normally they only come out for live black worms!

Nice work mr mom. I like the setup, very natural. It looks like the new guys a eel tail? I've been in the lookout for a few new pieces but none available ATM. Nice pick ups.

Was going in to do lights out tonight and guess what some wishes do come true ...
First I noticed the same Banjo as the night before was out again ... its barbs are permanently damaged from my learning curve.

Then in the corner of my eye noticed some faint movement (thankfully the camera was nearby from the other night)

The other one had come out to say hello as well

It was difficult getting any pics as it was hidden in the driftwood. But wow nice to see both of them out at the same time. It's been so long since I'd seen this one, I'd been contemplating sifting through the sand looking for a dead body. But boy seeing its barbs, now I know just how much damage the other one took.

Thank you very much ... been almost a year since I joined this site. Can't thank you enough for the help you've giving me. But I can't take all the credit on this scape ... my son did most of it. We've just been tweeking it together since then.

To be honest I keep questioning if I'm feeding correctly but they seem to be doing good. Mainly Cichlid Flake, some nights frozen blood worms ... but I'm suspecting they're the ones who've slowly been eating the shrimp I've thrown in there. But I've only been feeding at lights out once a day lately. Skipping one day a week.

Thanks for the compliment ... possible eel tail eh? SWEET ... they were sold as Banjo's at the same LFS I got my first 2. But I've been noticing differences over the past few months I've had them. And I've wanted to get some eel tails after seeing some photos ... so if they are I'm just happier.

Was planning on making some changes to my Banjo tank a couple weeks ago ... but had to leave town at the last minute. So finally was able to tackle it these past couple of days. The Swordtails are finally out, as well as the low light plants (3 Anubias and 1 Java Fern) that were in there. Had the idea of a "Black Water Biotope" put into my head and have spent plenty of time reading up on it, but alas I'm still too apprehensive to give it a go. But I believe should I decide to give it a go down the road, that the foundation is in place now to convert this tank.
We shifted everything over and added some Red Wendtii in various spots in the tank. Plus added 3 small pieces of malaysian driftwood, took out the glass stones and added some other type of a more porous stone (forget the name). The changes didn't come without any loses though. A number of leaves on my Madagascar Lace got torn (didn't realize just how big it had gotten) and 1 of my Orange Mexican Dwarf Lobster is now dead (I lost my first one this way many months ago ... don't know how, alive in the morning make my changes ... dead when I'm done). Not to mention one of my Banjo's ended up on the carpet without me realizing it, almost step on it (1" over it'd be a different story) ... seems to be doing fine now (I hope).

So here's the tank as it stands today

The current inhabitants are 6 Banjo Catfish, 9 Algae Eating Shrimp, 1 Orange Mexican Dwarf Lobster, 1 Assassin Snail and an assortment of pest snails.

I may still add some more java moss or floating water sprite. But I think its one of the better aquascapes my son and I have done.

Unsure if I want to add anything else stock wise other than more Shrimp. It hurt to remove everything (when things had grown so much) just to extricate the Swordtails. But I'd also like to add something to the surface ... so stuck in a conundrum ...... any suggestions? or keep it as is?

I'm liking the setup better and it looks really lush now. A few visible fish would be nice. I'm partial to Bettas and hatchetfish, but to each their own. Nice work.

Nice work MrMom aqua scape looks nice. I too am amazed by the camouflaged eel tail banjos and have a trio of two females and a male. also like bit don't have yet the chaca chaca. I understand tree are two species of chaca one gets larger than the other... I'm a big fan of mother natures ability to adapt such as built in camo..

Keep up the good work!!

Thanks ... we're quite pleased with the tank ourselves.

The Banjo's are in hiding, finally saw one come out last night at feeding time, and today 1 of the 2 (possible) eel-tail Banjo's was laying under a sword leaf. But then there's so many more places for them to hide now (and they had a lot before). The lack of movement fish wise is bugging my son. I don't want to have to rip this tank apart again just to catch some fish.

Hadn't thought of Betta's, never owned one and I killed my wife's when we first met (I was fish sitting ... bad move). Did some reading on them and its solo or possibly 2 females. Have to think about that.
Hatchetfish I know squat about. But what little I've recently read .. good idea, I'll have to ponder it some more.
Still have the African Butterfly Fish as an idea as well, but need to do more reading on all of it.

I don't want to get my hopes up, but ultimately I'd love to see these Banjo's spawn someday. But haven't fully figured out a way to sex them.
Speaking of ... WarrendaFish, how were you able to sex your Banjo's, I've just been hoping for the law of averages myself.

Thanks again for the compliments on the tank, as well as the ideas.
