banjo catfish

Looking great Mr. Mom!! Love the look!! And really like the fact you got the clouds breeding and the banjos keeping them in check. Free fish food!! And the best source of natural protein. Haven't made too many changes to my tank except for removing other fish. Will eventually make it a species only tank for the eel tails and try to breed them.

Great job!! Keep up the good work! I use timers on all my lit tanks to save electricity and also to give the fish some sort of schedule. I find it can help with breeding certain species of fish.

Will post some updates of mine soon as well.. Thanks for keeping the thread alive.

Well done Mr. Mom! You're all over it my man. I'm loving that mini blackwater setup of yours. Its a winner!

Thanks you guys ... we're quite pleased with how it looks as well

calichai ... the timer is only used when we're gone for more than 24 hrs.

Getting the white clouds to start breeding was a bonus ... as Warrendafish said "free fish food"

The "tree" is starting to provide more shade to the left side of the tank, which in turn is pleasing my Banjo's (still need more shade on the base) finally got to see a few of them the past couple of days.

Chicxulub (rob) ... I had said a while ago I'd like to get this tank into a more blackwater like setup ... took some time, but slowly getting there. I'd still like to get more tannis in the water, thus making the base of the tank darker, but up till now haven't had much success. But as things continue to grow, it may solve my issues that way.

So far its when I had my wild jungle, that my Banjo's seemed to be at their happiest ... so if I can get the tank base that dark again, plus with the IAL's as leaf litter. Hoping I can provide a setup where the Banjo's would like to breed ... but that's me with wishful thinking.
My 10yr old son (who still does all the plant maintenace - he's better than a timer) is quite pleased with the lushness of the plants ... and I'll be sure to pass those compliments alone

thanks again ...

Long time no updates so here is mine... The trio is by themselves in a 33 long now. Sand, almond leaves, a little driftwood and some current.

One of my females took 2nd place in catfish at a fish show In Rhode Island put on by TFSRI (Tropical Fish Society of RI)

The judges told me I would've taken first if she was in a larger tank but the one I was showing her in cracked on the way over to the show so she ended up in a large "critter keeper"

I so won best of show and placed 7 times.... Yeah... I killed it... 👍👍👍
