Yes they do "bark" its not all of them that do it but the ones that do can be.. ummmm... loud... and really freaky LOL ... if anyone wants to hear it try lifting your RTC out of the water for 20-30 seconds... they will usually throw out a few for you... once they figure it out they can get really LOUD.
Necro's 38" Hybrid can apparenty call him from the house to the garage
she's been doing it for a while now and i got her at like almost 2 inch's and she is about 7-8 inch's had her for 3 1/2 months been dong it for 2 month
My 38" rtc x tsn hybrid sounds like a grizzley bear when he's pissed! The water actually viberates it's so loud. Just so that you guys know most species of catfish have the capability to "bark" generally they do it when taken out of the water and handled. It's supposed to be a survival technique to scare a predator and make it drop the fish back into the water. On the anatomical level they do this not with air at all. So that you know there is a spine on the leading edge of the pectoral fins. At the base of this spine where it hinges inside of the pectoral fin girdle their is a rough edge and when the catfish has it's fins all the way out that rough edge rest against the girdle. A small push forward and the catfish makes that sound. They open their mouth to make a sound funnel and amplify the sound as it reverberates up the girdle into the mouth and outward.........Anyway, just so you know!
