Barramundi care

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
so i'm assuming that since he he is the almighty master at fish keeping that he can diss someone for making a mistake. jeez

Now now. Can't we be civil here?

That said, Barra's do grow fast and could potentially get large if provided the space and food. This being said, they will need larger enclosures for long-term care and more frequent cleanings to because of the amount of waste they produce.

They also have good appetites. This in combination with their (potential) size and fighting power is kind of why they are a prize Game Fish in a good chunk of Asia and Australia. They also are pretty good table fare.

At smaller size (less than 12in) they're very sensitive with ammonia, so more often water change is better (2-3 times a week). At bigger size, weekly water change is recommended. They like cold water, 70 or less.
They like cold water? And here I was thinking I lived in tropical north Australia where I catch plenty of barramundi, aka feeders...

I used to have 2 of them. They get big pretty fast and are big eatter. Do not mix them with smaller fishes as they will become the feeders. I mixed them with my arowana and rays and they do get along quite well. It is selling quite cheap in Singapore.
