yeah the 75 will be plenty for him, he would be fine in that tank for as long as he needs to be in there, definitely looking forward to seeing that 300 set up all the way ;)

Me too!! Been almost 6 months in the making between having the floors leveled and redone, designing the tank and sump and acquiring all of the components of the system. I can't wait to start an actual build thread. My wife thinks I'm crazy because half my garage is full of PVC, pumps, sump, lights, wiring, ....... You name it. I basically have everything but the tank and stand....

And now I have another resident!!

Btw.... What's typical growth rate? My Jd averages about an inch a month, but my GT is about half that.

Be careful. Most of the time they are super aggressive and not just with other big cichlids. I had to give my Midas his own tank because he will kill anything you put in the tank with him and he doesnt care if it is only 2 inches. And he is only 7 inches himself.

midas definitely have a faster growth rate. probably around the JDs rate. though tend to slow down once they hit 8in or so. GTs do tend to have a slow growth rate, not sure how large your GT is but i always found i have problems with GTs if i dont give them alot of veggie matter in their diets :(

can't say that for all midas. if they grew up in a community tank, they usually nd up really calm and timid.

I had mine in a tank with other fish. Even a Jag that was real mellow and they all got along fine and then one morning I woke up to find the Jag torn to pieces. Then the my Midas started to go after the other tankmates. And the Jag was bigger than him. I guess he just decided to snap overnight. But I do know that there are exceptions.

How long do you plan to keep him in the 90? remember these fish grow really fats and are aggresive...

I would say being aggressive would definitely depend on how it's raised and it's individual personality.

I have a Jag, flowerhorn, orange midas, 3 barred midas (juveniles), and a red terror together, and there are no issues what so ever. The Jag is the only female in the tank as well. They all get along, and all act like puppy dogs.

There are exceptions for Midas fish but the majority of them are really aggressive. They are not considered one of the most aggressive fish for nothing.

I heard that and I feed veggie flakes at least every other day now. I added spirulina and veggie to their staple. GT is only about 3.5-4" and I figure it's gonna be slow going for awhile.

This fish was raised in a community setting. At petsmart they actually had to remove the 3 Midas from the large display tank they were in because the oscars and bloodparrots were harrasing them. Lol. I thought that was pretty funny. Mine seems alot more aggressive in the qt tank though....

I kinda figured he would be at least somewhat aggressive. I figure a festae and jag have that potential as well and the Midas hasnt met my Jd yet. He 's a total ass!! New tank can't get here fast enough...
