Beamswork LED's

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How is the durability on the v2 72" version? I have a v1 on my 48" tank, and would like to get one for my 72" tank. The old v1 seemed great for the money. Are the v2's as good or better durability wise???

Update on mine: I've had my v1 48" beamswork light for about a year now. Still running great. No burnt out LED's at all (knock on wood). I have it on a timer and run it for 8-10 hours per day.

I have been running three of them (one on my each 135G's). I purchased the first in the last quarter of 2012. It came in perfect condition and fully functional. I liked the looks, and bought the other two in December 2012. All three look good to me, and arrived in perfect working condition.

I have numerous (around a dozen) other sized Beamworks lights from Aquatraders on my other tanks. I have never received a fixture that had any LED's not illuminating. I have received only one "damaged" fixture. The slim line housing had a perpendicular crack the entire with of the fixture in the center. The crack was all the way through top and bottom of the fixture, causing the center to touch the glass lid on the tank while using the legs. This particular damaged fixture would not be usable without the legs elevating the sides of the unit.

I was too lazy to contact Aquatraders since the lights still functioned and I used them as was. I can't necessarily fault Aquatraders for this either. The boxes (3) were taped and packaged like the OP pictured. One of the end boxes was clearly visually damaged giving the indication that the breakage most likely occurred as a result of the carriers mishandling!

Any Ideas what is going on with Aquatraders? Their site keeps getting shutdown for "maintenance". It was supposed to be back up on may 3rd, but its may 10th and still down. This happened a month ago too, I have been looking to pickup a 72" LED fixture. Their number has been out of service and they also wont return my emails. In the past I have purchased 48" t5 fixture, 2x 48" fw bright led, and 48" marine bright led.

It is a shame, I love my beamworks products and would have done business with Aguatraders again.

I'm filing through my credit card because I put an order in on February 14 for the CFS 14i canister filter. It did state they would not ship until April which I was fine with. Then on April 22nd I got notice of ups label made to be picked up and till this day ups is still waiting to pick it up under that tracking number. They went out of business shortly after and phone number disconnected :( Typically you have 60 days to file a claim with credit card and I'm hoping with the evidence I have on various other sites I can get my $210 back.

Just checked aquatraders and they are back online. I got their same exact lights cheaper on ebay though.
