Beamswork LED's

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just ordered two of the 24" ones for my tank. My tank is kind of wonky with center braces as it's not one of those main stream brands and it's not a common size. If there is a slight subdued look to the tank then that's not all that bad IMO, the key is that they were cheap, their LED and will be better then the current light on my tank (single 24" florescent strip).

Hello all. I am new to the forum. Thanks to Google, I stumbled upon it when doing some research on lighting. I am Rachel; I keep african cichlids (aulonocara and haplochromis sp.). Look forward to meeting and talking with all of you.

I just ordered a V3 - 72" Beamswork HI LUMEN 400 LED 0.2W Hex Light Fixture (with optional Timer) -- same fixture & specs as 'agreeive?fish' listed above. It is for my 125 gallon (72.5" x 18.5" x 23 3/8") tank.

ixture Size: 70.50" x 7.00" x 1.38" (Add 0.65" in height with bracket installed)

LEDs Count: 400
7000 Lumens
Super energy efficient 0.2 watt high output LEDs
320x 10,000K LED
80x Actinic 460nm LED
Use 80 watts

I ordered at 12pm on Monday, March 11th using the free standard shipping (6 to 8 days) and received an email today confirming the shipping via UPS (tracking number) and arrival date of no later than Tuesday March 19th. Can't wait to receive the light. I am crossing my fingers that I am lucky enough to receive a unit that will not cause me problems, as I have experienced quite a few issues with my fixtures over the past 4 years. I spent last night reading through all 20 pages of the posts; thank you so much to all that have shared their experiences and pictures, it has been very helpful!

I will be sure to post pics once I have it up. Can't wait!!! :nilly:

I'm glad my thread has become so helpful. Can't wait to see your pics, im sure others will find your pics helpfull aswell. And welcome to MFK!

Ordered from Aquatraders by the way. Noticed that as of yesterday they are all out of these fixtures (the type I ordered). I originally wanted to order the BeamsWork HI LUMEN 1W Quad LED fixture with the following specs (but they were out of stock):

Fixture Size: 70.50" x 7.00" x 1.38" (Add 0.65" in height with bracket installed)

LEDs Count: 112
7500 Lumens
Super energy efficient 1 watt high output LEDs
84x 10,000K LED
28x Actinic 460nm LED
Use 112 watts

Has anyone ordered this type? Curious on the difference of this versus the others.

Also, is there a reason that people order two 36" or two 48" fixtures, rather than a 72" for their tank?

Thanks in advance for the input.

I would guess the reason folks order 2 36 in fixtures instead of a single 72 is you get more total LEDs with the 2 fixtures. Plus if you ever decide to sale down the rd 2 36 in fixtures are a lot easier to get rid of than a single 72 inch.

How is the durability on the v2 72" version? I have a v1 on my 48" tank, and would like to get one for my 72" tank. The old v1 seemed great for the money. Are the v2's as good or better durability wise???

Update on mine: I've had my v1 48" beamswork light for about a year now. Still running great. No burnt out LED's at all (knock on wood). I have it on a timer and run it for 8-10 hours per day.
