Dam dude! I can tell with those sick bars popping out and running across his forehead :D
What do you think triggered his rage?

No idea lol. Came home yesterday and the convict was dead and he's been acting like a dick ever since. Still leaves everything else alone though. Kinda goes after my common pleco a bit but I'm not worried about him. Beani won't get through him armor.

I think its time then, for another legit video update on his madness!
maybe the temp is too high or the BB was disrupted? or he could just be acting like a crazy Beani would haha

A pair has formed...and they are bossing around every other beani in the tank!
who can help clarify which is the male or female? "calling out duanes!"

#1 has the vertical black-bars and is the most aggressive..

#2 has the most honey-comb freckles

To me, the top 2 pics look like the female, and bottom 2 the male. I base it on the dark edge on the front of the dorsal fin in the top 2, and the darker color overall. My beani seem to be a different location variant,
with less barring so I may be off the mark. My male also developed a strong head prfile very young, which I don't see on yours yet, but may be on the way.
Here are pics of what I mean.
Note the head of the male, he is about 4" in this photo

note the dark in the female dorsal, spawning color here, very dramatic difference

another of the female, here she's about 6 ",little more streamlined and darker body shading, here not in breeding color, less dramatic difference

here's the male, little lighter throughout, bit more high bodied, and almost a slight nuchal hump

Beautiful, even if they are from a different location variant... thank you for the ID
I like how your female goes from her dark spawning dress back to her honey comb colors when not :)

Im feeding mine NLS theraA 1mm but also have HBH super spirluna on hand for when they are big enough... are you still feeding that to your beani?
Im just a little worried about the high fat content in the HBH but the low protein is nice...Im assuming spirulina is similar to what they eat in the wild

I have been feeding HBH spirulina and HBH goldfish pellets to the beani all along, and still do,
I feed it to all my fish, even the carnivores, but I supplement the /carnivore/piscivores (like Lepidiolamprologus) a diet with higher protein foods.
I consider beani omnivores.
