Beani Gold Rush

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Mine seems to only be good with bottom feeders or fish that are 2inches or smaller.
I tried 2 Midas cichlids with him. He swam with them and never bothered them at all. Once they hit 3.5-4 inches, BAM! Killed bother of them haha.

If your gonna try and breed them, make sure you make stank separator out of egg crate so the female can get away.

I've actually been following a guy on Instagram that has a pair of "gorillus blue" umbees. He's trying to breed them and will apparently be the first person to breed them in captivity. (Not sure if that's true or not, but meh haha)
He's got an egg crate separator with a swing door built into it so his female can move back and forth and he can lock the door if needed. I would honestly do something like that if you don't want to chance your male killing her, that would suck alot haha.

Strangely enough my group of 6 adult Beani get along pretty good for the most part. 1 9" male to 4 similiar sized females with 1 additional that might be a non dominant male. Probably as they were raised together and they are in a 10 foot long tank.

The egg crate separator sounds like a good idea man...Im going to wait till I can ID one of them as a female for sure then divide her with my male #1, and put male #2 in his own tank so he can grow and become a beast on his own :D

Just tried out the new waterproof phone case for some pics.

Pissed the Beani right off haha, so his colors kinda look like crap.

Wow, the underwater pics show how beastly this guy really is! He is thick for a beani man, im jealous :grinno:
What did you feed your guy throughout his life and how many times a day?
So far, ive been feeding mine NLS theraA 1mm twice a day, and occasionally soaked w/ epsom salt just as precaution to bloat. Temperature kept below 75deg.

Wow, thats insane. I demand pics of this ultimate beani tank!

I also feed them mysis shrimp and sometimes thawed out baby shrimp/popcorn shrimp, whatever you wanna call it haha.

I feed the new life usually twice a day. Sometimes 3 depending on how hungry the fish are. Whatever he doesn't eat the plecos and RTC will pick it up.

And I usually just mix up some Epsom salts and water and dump it in the tank every couple of weeks and every time I do a water change

Awesome beani ..who did you get them from? I had a pair years ago , and they always hid. I'd love to get more.

Thanks, I got them from the Wetspot and I would highly recommend them as they have excellent customer service and shipping :)

haha I was hoping you would start it up man! But maybe I will in the lounge area...for now, PM me some pics of your s13 and supra build, I would love to check it out!

Also, as far as throwing epsom salt in the tank instead of the soaking the pellets, does that help at preventing bloat? Or just allievate constipation?
I believe bloat is a parasitic problem so I think the epsom salt has to actually be ingested but I guess it doesnt hurt to throw some in the tank to help their weak digestive systems, but let me know what you think as you have had great success with your beani :)

Haha I have lots of pictures. Go on Facebook and search up "trademark auto house" there's like 10 different albums on there with different builds haha. Once we start up the thread ill have to save a bunch of pics off Facebook and upload them on here haha.

I know if they actually have bloat they need to ingest it....haha now that you say that I'm not even sure. I was told by someone either on here or Alberta aquatica, can't remember who, that putting Epsom salts into the water relieves stress, which is a big cause to bloat. So I had assumed that them swimming/living in it would have some sort of effect on this digestive system.

Anytime my guy goes more than like 2 days without eating I throw in some Epsom salts and by the next day he's eating again.....it seems likes its doing a good job to me haha
