Beani Help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Epsom salt is fine for plecos. I would perform another water change in a couple of days, but I wouldn't add any more epsom salt. The following day try feeding a few epsom soaked pellets. What size of NLS do you feed your beani?

Perfect. Let them presoak for approx 10 minutes in the 3% epsom salt solution before you feed them to your beani.

BTW - it wouldn't hurt to try a few epsom soaked pellets tomorrow. He'll either eat them, or reject them, it won't hurt to try.

I just recently lost a male RTM to something like this. I had grown out the RTM from a 1" fish and had it in a tank with its female. He decided to kill her one day...so I got another from a reputable breeder and same place the original came from. I put the new female in the tank divided from the male and nothing else. A few weeks later the male stopped eating and would have long white poo. I tried jungle tabs but no luck the male died after about a week or so. Quarantine is so important....

That sucks
I used to have a red tiger motag, a giant 15 inch Midas and a breeding pair of red terrorXtexas.
Did a water change one day in the spring time and my tank water turned to milk and everything died. Still to this day have no idea what happened. All I can think of is possibly spring run off or the addition of more chemicals to the tap water.
Super depressing. That was the incident that made me get out of the fish hobby for 3 years.

SUCCESS!!!
he ate 3 pellets. not the normal amount he eats, but its a start and its better than nothing!

i did the epsom salt saturated food as well, so i'm sure that will help kill off whatever is left on the inside.

i'll be honest, i had my doubts. its usually my luck that my fish just end up dying, especially my prized/favorite ones. but to see him finally eat actually made me so happy lol.

thank you so much. you acually helped save my beani's life!
