Bearded Dragon won't eat HELP PLEASE!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I don't know what TBI means. Anyway...

Even if that guy didnt have problems with walnut shells, what do you expect the dragon to do with it? Like I've said (preaching the loco gospel lol) substrate is a tool, just like everything else. They won't encounter ground walnut shells or anything SIMILAR in the wild. Give a beardie a foot of soil, and itll look like one of those plastic ant farms in a matter of days. See what I mean? They can be good on one thing, but great on another. But just good is a lot better than what some people will keep them with....

But with forums, you can get your answer plus more! Thats the whole beauty of it. You ask something, and get more than what you expected! Thats if youre open-minded. Most people get highly offended for some odd reason when the main question isnt discussed, even if the issue is more pressing.

Anyway, hope you fix whatever is wrong and the dragon gets better. Any pics? :)

You know it's that time of the year where the temperature drop dramatically overnight into the 50s and 60s while you're sleeping right? Especially since landlords like to shut off the furance at night too, or sometimes the furance don't come on at at all until a certain point. :irked: It may show up as fine during the day, but at night is a different story. I am thinking the beardie could had spent a bit too much time on the cool side for a few nights which is making it not want to eat.

However it just a theory.

loco,it always sounds like your giving advice from books rather than hands on,how many years of keeping and breeding herps do you have,i feel like you dont respect that some ppl have been doing this longer than you or on a larger scale.what do you have one bearded dragon, why do you feel you know so much about them, have you seen all these problems first hand or is good husbandry going to save the world.things get sick,i did not intentionally feed bad feeders to my pets and screw you for sayin that amongst the other insults youve given ppl.you sound like a broken record with your husbandry crap that is true, but shut up already and quit insulting, you said it like there could be nothing else wrong, the rest of us are shaking our heads wondering where in the hell your getting this. And im thinking man if he only knew, and hope you dont learn the hard way.I realy wonder how old you are because you dont understand the importance of thorough advice.Every thread your in gets this way and youve sucked me into it and weve all pissed off the thread starter, you pis me off with your know it all smart *** atitude with not a hell of a lot of background.im sure you take good care of all your herps and im proud of you.alot of ppl are feeling this way about you even though you are generaly nice.i think youve been booted off other forums and i wonder why.The way you word your posts gets old and its sucked me in to debating all the time with you on things that get noplace.wether its torn up feet from substrate, crapin out rusty doorknobs, shovin buckets of sand down your herps mouth or whatever crap you say,i tell you things from hands on experience and you still argue it,how does that make since to you,how in the hell does that make since.you say that good husbandry would have saved my leos, well shove it because now i know for sure that your either 13 years old or you dont know sht.And i cant beleive i talked to you for this long and when im done posting im going to slap myself in the face fore doing it,have a stiff drink, pet my dog, snuggle up to my girl and watch snl wich by the way sucks compared to the old days,so no im not mad,i just cant see how your still on here.your always arguing with someone, and not usually constructively, well sorry mods, delete what you need, wont happen again, and loco,im not the only one feelin it.You need to show some respect to ppl that have been around longer.i know youve told someone on another thread that you look forward to debating them, put a sock in it,this sites for comming together, not running for president, give advice on what you got hands on with, books are fine but dont read them and then think your a doctor,if you havnt seen a intestinal blockage then dont say thats not what it is and so on,sht you just need to chill, and hey, delgato will soon post that he will lmao and that will make me lmao.i love how he comes from nowhere in just the right spots.quit arguing about things you have not kept very long,a few beardies compared to a large breeding colony gives some extra experience and you need to start seeing that, you see alot more and learn much more that way and you cant stop telling ppl that they will cure the herp with good husbandry.sht happens and you need a vet,its not all as simple as you say so quite watchen Mr rogers and get in the real world, yes it sucks sometimes but grow up.

Wow.. my eyes hurt from reading that. Please take it to the PM if you feel like addressing a member publicly.

loconorc is pretty much representive of the guys over at some of the monitor forums... they have similar views and styles.

Man Jason, I was watching SNL last night and thinking about how it kind of sucked. Except Macgruber was somewhat amusing:)

To the original poster, I apologize for the way this thread has gotten and I apologize for being a part of it. I agree with Bloody that it could be related to one of those overnight cold-snaps. So if you're just using a heat lamp in the day, go ahead and get one of those purple or red nighttime heat bulbs or even a radiant heat panel and a thermostat. Even if you're using a heat pad or heat tape, it only warms the area over it; it doesn't warm the air. So you can pretty much end up with a nice 80* warm spot and the ambient temp can still be in the 60s. Belly heat is important for some species, but if you've got really low ambient temps, it counteracts the belly heat and can lower your lizard's body temperature significantly.

Aside from the huge disregard towards husbandry by everyone involved here, I agree with lovespunaround and Irish. I hang out with the big boys of monitors in varanus.net all the time, and you CANNOT argue with those guys. I dare you to disagree with Frank Retes lol.

Same philosophy with monitors applies to beardies: Heat em' and feed 'em!

You also might wanna KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid.

One of the many things ol' Franks taught me.

Wow and Jason, you think I'M insulting? Hmm after reading that...

Jason, learn to write, please.... If you want to sound especially mature in a conversation, a big jumbled mass of a run-on sentance does'nt really add to your reputation.

Now, I do not have a lot of hands on experience. I have a decent amount, about 8 years worth, as well as some experience outdoors. Heres the beauty of the INTERNET: Other peoples experience can be SHARED! So no, I may not have experience with argus monitors for example, but I know Frank Retes. He is the single largest producer of monitors on earth and has more experience than you can shake a stick at. I don't learn by reading books. I learn from firsthand, day to day experiences, like those at varanus.net. Yes I might cite a book here and there or recommend one, but thats not the majority of it. The modern herpkeeper does not have to learn the hard way, he can learn from OTHER PEOPLE learning the hard way. Do you get it?

If I dont have firsthand experience with a problem I adress, I GIVE CREDIT TO WHO DOES AND ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I DO NOT. And I try to make a massive point of that. And yes, I have been banned from KS. I cursed one too many times in the chatroom, boo hoo. But other than that, I havent.

Anyway, lets hear an update on the dragon!

Hahahaha about SNL, I was watching the best of Christopher Walken and LMAO!! 'Would you like a glass of fine champagne?'

Sorry about my typing,I dont work in an environment where I type ever.We did not have computors in class at school when I went so if I wanted to type that post in 2 yours i would have made it all nice just so i wouldnt loos my rep, wich i cant beleive you said.--------------------------------Big guys, the lizards or the guys? You can argue with anyone!I hope your not acting like they are the big guys like the gods of herp keeping because they specialize in monitors. And bigger lizards are not any harder than some exotic minis.---------------------------------Your kiss thing does not aply do everything in herps, how do you not agree with that?--------------------------------------I was only insulting because I got sick of seein you do it to others and you need a little taste.--------------------------------------------Learning the hard way,yes I get it,Ive had many cases with either my herps or a freinds.Thats what i was tryin to tell you,The sand impacts, the parasites, the mites,I just offer that type of hands on,not hear say from three posts from ppl who knows where.Im just sayin stop arguing with someone who actualy had the very problem backing it with hearsay from others. The net is great for sharing, but,if someones posting on an actual problem they hav had and experienced hands on like I did with the beardies, back off on punking what i tell them with your kiss stuff, because I did learn the hard way that kiss is sometimes:bs:Gulper we do care and you dont have to read any of this crap,we dont blame you , weve gottin way side tract and I am sorry,Im not mad at anyone here ,I dont even know you guys out side of this,I have no enemies in life and thank God for that,I just feel their is some snobbyness on mfk and it wasnt like this before, its getting old and im not going to let it ruin it for me anymore so i guess ill just start reading more selectively.Good day,Gulper I should have taken your advice on this one:ROFL:

Loco im sorry,i know things get messed up while not being able to speak in person.Lets agree to disagree on those terms, you are generaly a nice cat on here and thank you for at least caring like you do,this has got out of hand so lets move on please. If you dont want that then good luck.Im not as good at typing my feelings as I am in person so Im not going to try anymore, its just not the same.God bless.:)

Yeah man, no hard feelings. But take my word for it, I think I'm going in the right direction. But the great thing about herps is, everyone is different! Thats how you learn from others, and I hope both of us can learn from each other. I'm glad it didn't turn into an insulting match. I think I caught your drift and you caught mine. (hopefully)

But dude, no joke about varanus. Unless you've read the entire archive, you don't know how helpful they are. I'm serious. They may not be the gods of herpkeeping, but Frank sure is the god of monitors, and you can learn a lot, because a lot of philosophy and husbandry applies accross the board.

Well, glad youre chill now. LOL! :)

So uh, beardie update? Pics? C'mon! :P
