Bearded Dragon won't eat HELP PLEASE!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No need to get angry. The exotic vet tech around here usually ask about the enclosure and husbandry practice first before admitting it to the vet. :)

Usually 90% of the problems with herptiles lie in husbandry. Sometimes something happen overnight like a cold snap that can throw them completely off.

Edit: Hell, in most of the cases admitted, they don't even need medications.

AND LET ME ADD, ALL OF MY PETS ARE EXTREMELY WELL TAKEN CARE OF. IF THEY ARE SICK THEY GO TO THE VET, IF THEY ARE HUNGRY, I FEED THEM. MOST OF THEM EAT BETTER THAN I DO! IF THEY GET DIRTY, I CLEAN THEM. IF THEY ARE COLD, I TURN THE HEAT UP. IT DOES NOT TAKE A ROCKET SCIENTIST TO FIGURE THIS ONE OUT GUYS!!

AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED ALL OF THE CREATURES I HAVE CREEPING, CRAWLING, RUNNING AND SWIMMING AROUND MY HOUSE ARE MY KIDS AND I WILL DO EVERTHING IN MY POWER TO SEE THAT THEY ARE GIVEN THE VERY BEST CARE HUMANLY POSSIBLE.

NOT ANGRY JUST FRUSTRATED WITH THE BICKERING. NOT ONE PERSON EVEN ASKED HOW SHE WAS. TO CONCERNED ABOUT WHO WAS RIGHT.

SORRY TBI, LOCO JUST HARPING ON SAME DEAD ISSUES. AND JUST BECAUSE "THAT'S HOW HE DID IT" THEN IT IS THE RIGHT WAY AND WE SHOULD ALL BOW DOWN BEFORE HIM AND DO AS HE DOES BECAUSE HE SAYS SO.

That's the one thing about herptile. Just because they look healthy, it doesn't always means they do look healthy. I just know this from how people take care of their Blue-Tongued Skinks... they give them diets that are harmful, but the side effects don't accumulate quickly and show up about 5-7 years around the down the line. Herptiles are TOO hardy for their own good.

For future reference, give people the dimension of the enclosure, humidity level, hot and cool side temperature, substrate, and their complete diet. We will help you more if you give us more information. We don't like to jump on the parasite issues as soon as possible. I know one of the rescued Cresties under my care lost his desire to eat when the temperature spiked up to 90 F. Same with my boa, one of them lost their desire to eat when the temperature dropped overnight below 70 F on the cool side.

Edit: How I know this? Min/Max thermometers are your best friends. :D

Settle down on the caps lock.

These arent dead issues. If they were, it would be a perfect world.

I'm not telling you how I've done it. I would be HUMILIATED if I told you the crazy s--- I did when I first got him.

We don't care whos right, but whoever is right is the one that helps the animal, which is the ultimate goal here. At least for me and almost everyone here it is. No one has bad intentions. Well it seems you might now.

Youre not exactly the most thourough person when it comes to describing the situation. Lets see, should we assume or should we read your mind, since you refuse to be specific. Why didnt you tell us beforehand?

With those walnut shells, the bottom of your beardies foot will look like ground beef in about a month.

Ease up on the insults, and fix the problem with your husbandry.

Well said BloodyIrish! You posted at the same time as me lol.

I appreciate what you are saying. I guess when you know that everything else is good, and you ask a direct question, a simple " no, never ran into that problem" or "yeah! try this, it worked with mine" or "have you tried...." would be good

Really... invest in some digital min/max thermometer with two probes and a temperature gun and a digital hydrometer. If you have done so... great!

I have no idea what happened to your Beardie, but it does sound an overnight thing at this time of the year. I know I have been panicky myself about my room temperature dropping below the house thermostat's temperature lately. Making me want to get some heat cord and a herpstat... so I don't lose my hair!

I asked a specific question, thats all!
she has been on walnut shells. That is what she was on when she came from the private breeder and that is what we kept her on. And have not had any trouble.
like i said, dead issue.
And yes, my goal from the beginning and still remains to try to help her

TBI
all is good
